Has anyone else "hit the brick wall"????

I swear, I have been so unmotivated to read, study, do homework, or anything else pertaining to school lately. I'm on the brink of finishing my first year of nursing school, and I just want a break! I feel like my brain is fried and no matter how hard I try I just won't be able to cram in one more Med/Surg chapter, one more drug card, or one more NCLEX question. I'm in my last week of classes and than have finals, but it's gotten to the point where I've actually thought "Well, I'm not indanger of failing, so why study?"

WHAT'S WRONG WITH ME?!?!

Am I the only one who needs a break? How am I supposed to get back on track for the next two weeks??? :o

Must be nice to have nice weather, lol. It's snowing here! :uhoh21:

I hear ya! I have got the spring fever and since gardening is a huge hobby, it makes it much harder to stay focused. I don't want to write any more essay's, of course, that ain't happening. I've got tons of essay's to write for A&P. Oh well, I'll just have to write fast so I can out outside to enjoy the beautiful weather.

Happy Spring :)

I found a cure for the spring fever/wanting to enjoy the beautiful weather/not wanting to study anymore......

I just study outside and let the beautiful breeze soothe me. It works for me because I just have to get my sunshine and I have to study for finals. Kill two birds with one stone. then again, my neighborhood is very peaceful.

It was a toss up between walking across the street to the beach on a sunny balmy south Florida day, beachcombing for seashells in the clear surf and feeling the healing sand between my toesies... and studying for my last pharm unit test. This is a no brainer. Think I'll lay down for a nap now.

Living here in Scotland we do not have as many good weather days as in other countries like youselves in the States. Also my mum is recovering from surgery for colon cancer, I am finding it difficult to motivate to study and give my "full energy" whilst at work. We are having some good days weatherwise at the moment and being someone wo enjoys "pottering" in the garden, can see my work and study far enough!!I sometimes think "is it all worth it? Should I go back to being a Health Care Assistant, no resonsibility,no moaning relatives-"I cant find my mother's bedsox!!"meanwile I am trying to comfort bereaved relatives,"listen" to a dying patient, do a drug round, sort out the complaints of the auxiallry nurses that "so and so is not pulling her weight!! and paperwork!! Sorry about the venting, this was supposed to be a quick reply however it just came pouring out.Bernadette

Yes, I've hit the wall........many times. But remember, you can climb over it!

This is the method I use. You can laugh but it works for me. Hope it helps someone.

I start by taking the notes out of the notebood and separating the different sections and then paperclipping them. I then put them into little piles according to subject matter. (Like everything about the Cardiovascular System, then the Musculoskeletal System, etc). By doing this I can get a handle on the scope of the material, without it being overwhelming.

When I procrastinate, I just promise myself that all I have to do is study one pile and then I can take a break. I reward myself. It works to get me started.

The next thing I know, I've gone thru that one and the the other ones don't look so very big. I take it one pile at a time. I can really get on a roll with this method. Just separate them and attack. I think they do this in war too. And Nursing School is war.

Good Luck!

Hit the wall bigtime! I have this week and next week of clinicals, then finals! I'm so fried I can't see straight. My hubby asked me if I was going to enroll in summer classes to get started on a BSN and I thought I was going to vomit. I can't even imagine going to school for another 2 years right now. I just finished my last care plan and I'm trying to convince myself to get off this BB and study for finals. I'm not very convincing...LOL..

Hope things are looking up Bernadette :)

Yeah. The problem for me is that I probably will go to grad school, where A's are important for acceptance into those programs. So I'm trying to stay motivated, but it's an uphill battle.

This is my situation too... and I know I didn't get an A in Pharm which was really frustrating and disapointing for me because I did try pretty hard. I was so unmotivated going into the final today, because I already knew there was basically no way I could pull an A out of the class. I wish I had the summer off but I am part time as it is and if I skip a semester I will literally be attending school until doomsday. At least the summer classes are shorter and then I get about a month off. The Fall classes I think I will enjoy so I am actually looking forward to them. These summer ones I could definitely skip (nursing management and some environment class that I have to have as a university requirement).

Anyway, enough complainin' from me... good luck to those of you who are still finishing up this semester - try to pull together the rest of that motivation for just a little longer and then you can relax!!!!

:chuckle

Thanks a bunch...that just makes it sooooo much easier for me to hit books. The weather here has been windy and in the 50s (at least today). I just keep telling myself to study outside, but even still, my backyard doesn't have seashells and sand.... :o
