Hi,

I have to do Psych paper on Famous person with mental illness. There must be book written about or by this person.

Please help me out to choose a famous person which has a lot of information available online.

Any of the Hemmingway's- for generations, most have resorted to suicide. May be interesting to add the family spin on it. Great ideas above as well.

To the poster who said Lincoln had a mental illness- Which one? I knew he is suspected of having Marfan's but nevre heard of a mental illness theory.

It was labeled 'melancholy' back then.

But it's been figured he had major clinical depression, he talked often of suicide, and some psychologists believe he might have been paranoid schizophrenic, since he was always afraid of dying, always thought he would get murdered, had dreams about it.

Thanks for the info on Lincoln. I think I need to study up on American history a bit better!!

On a side note, my uncle (thru marriage) is related to him somehow and I remember hearing stories when I was a kid about some crazy skeletons in the closet in the family. Something about a murder or two over land and someone cooking someone in an oven- I wish I remembered it all!!

Apparently Lincoln's whole family had some sort of mental problem in some form.
