Do you remember???

I'm taking my last pre-nursing class right now, and will be applying to my program in a matter of weeks. I'm trying to envision what my reaction will be when I open my letter and it says I'm accepted. All I can see is a lot of squealing and jumping up and down! So I have to ask, do you remember what your reaction was when you first found out you got in to your program????

Specializes in Emergency Dept. Trauma. Pediatrics.

Yes, I got an email. I know I was getting in that semester but it still wasn't real until I got the email and it was official. I was on a wait list for 3.5 years. I screamed and I called everyone and posted it on myspace or facebook, than I replied thanking the lady and said had she called she would have heard me screaming and she told me she would have liked that. LOL

Anyway it's very exciting. The excitement stuck with me throughout all first semester. Excitement and nerves all in one constantly.

Specializes in Emergency/Cath Lab.

Sadly I really dont remember because my friends took me out to celebrate. Apparently I was in a very good mood and even offered to buy a round of shots for the bar. The bar owner is a close friend of mine and found out I got in so he bought a round for everyone instead. Pretty fun night.

The next day I called everyone to let them know. Thats when it really set in when I told my rents that I made it finally.

Specializes in CICU.

It felt really good - a huge relief.

Graduating feels the same, only way way better!

Specializes in Telemetry.

I found out a few weeks ago that I got into my first choice. It was the day before my birthday.

I got an email, and I was at work at the time. I started shaking and smiling but I couldn't say anything out loud because I hadn't told my work yet about nursing school. I immediately grabbed my phone and texted my husband and closest friends, and all of my texts had major typos because I couldn't keep my hands still :)... and then I was incredibly happy for the rest of the week and had an awesome birthday.

Specializes in Critical Care; Cardiac; Professional Development.

I just finished my first semester. When I opened the letter and saw I had been accepted at my first pick school on my first attempt, I just cried. Hard. Happy tears.

Sweet stories everyone. When I simply think about being accepted, I feel like I could cry. I though I was weird for being so excited just over nursing school but I guess I'm not alone! Congrats to everyone accepted into their schools:)

It's a huge accomplishment to finally get in and start! There aren't many things that have this grueling process before they even START the program, and than they get in and it's a whole new world. I don't think many could possibly understand.

I would imagine acceptance into Med School though would feel much of the same.

I had just gotten off the train and got home. i saw that i had a voicemail and i recognized the number from the school. i held my breath as i listened to message and when the counselor said "congratulations" i was just soooooo happy. I screamed, jumped up and down, cried, then screamed some more!

i opened it with my eyes closed.. tightly that is.. and was afraid to look for a good five minutes. lol. But then i opened it and realized i was good! And I was very excited, overwelmed, and just happy! And im now just finishing my first year. You have a lot of emotion to look forward to while in NSG school! Enjoy!

They kept postponing the date the letters were to be sent out...When I received the letter (after waiting for the mailman everyday that week) I cried and got down on my knees and thanked God.

It's the one letter you're going to have complete mixed emotions about. You're going to be so extremely happy you could pass out. But you're going to have that 'what the hell did I get myself into?' moment as well. Be proud of yourself though. It takes a lot just to get INTO nursing school. Try to hold onto the 'so happy you could pass out' moment for as long as you can. Best of luck to you!
