I have got one REALLY, REALLY NASTY cold coming on AND I am trying to get some studying done.
I am a sight to see right now...red, puffy eyes; red, puffy, snotty nose (not to mention the kleenex that remains hanging out the nostril...LOL) and the constant sneezing.
Does anyone have any good home remedies?

Alka selzer plus cold medicine for during the day and the night time brand for at night. Takes all that away but check with your dr to be sure he or she says it is okay LOL. Gotta CYA you know.

Equal amounts of lemon juice and honey, add cayenne pepper to taste, the hotter the better. Works for me.

Zinc lozengers, pineapple/orange juice, chickensoup. Do it now and it will help. Have lots of puffs on hand too, the other tissues are too rough on our delicate little snoozes. A hot shower or soak in the tub also helps with sore backs. Hope you feel better soon.

This almost always works if your cold hasn't hit you full force yet:
Echinacea--take one several times a day
Vitamin C--1,000 mg 2-3x day. Yes, that would be 2-3,000 mg/day.
I haven't had a cold all winter (knock on wood), and I'm extremely prone to them. In fact, I'm fighting off a sore throat this way right now.
Feel better.
Dont take citrus juice w/ the zinc (wait 3 hours) becuase I think it nulls the zinc's affects (effects??)

Echinacea *IS* great...it is VERY important though to drink a lot of water with it as it can dehydrate you....and lots of water is good for you anyway!
hope you feel better....!!!

THat is right! Counteracts, also make sure that that the drop dissolves completely in your mouth (goes in the bloodstream there, I think? Anyone know if that is true. Its what I heard ...)
I know zinc works everytime for me. I gave it to my boyfriend who had a horrid cold, two days later, it cleared up. Also suggested to a co-worker, and he fended off the cold!
Zinc drops every four hours, alkaselter seems to help some people, then something at bedtime to sleep. Plenty of tissues too!
