At least its day time.

i dont think i'd be able to read by candlelight! Its too relaxing, I'd probably fall asleep! :)

I'm in Connecticut too...and thankfully, I still have power. I start classes tomorrow (?? we'll see I guess, since my school is on the coast). I printed off all the power point lessons for the first week for A&P..figure if the power goes out at least I have something to 'read' heehee.

OH NO!!! i didnt even think about this... hopefully you all dont have too much damage & or more importantly class days werent effected.

Yes, Pneumo, CT got a little visit from Hurricane Irene. So far so good for me..still have power, no trees down..no damage..all is well. My mom lives about 5 minutes from me..here whole town is pretty much shut down due to flooded roads and downed trees. Luckily all are safe. They are saying that people who lost power might be without it for a week or better. Looks like mom might be paying an unexpected visit.

I think classes might be cancelled tomorrow for me. All the other State colleges/uni's have closed, but not my private college yet...we'll see.

I haven't had power since early this morning. So far classes aren't cancelled. I've been trying to read but its tough. I'm working tonight but I might go in early if I'm in the dark still.

im in PA and we got hit last night. i swear everyone in my surrounding area has lost power, including people who live less than 5 mins from me... but it didnt lose power once! yay!

Pardon my ignorance but I have been completely absorbed in study lately and haven't a clue what is going in in CT. Is this related to Irene?

yes, its irene, and its not just CT, its most of the east coast... i live pretty inland and we got hit semi hard.. i cant imagine how crappy it was for people closer to the coast. :redbeathe

Thanks Ashley.

I'm sorry folks. I know what it means to lose the things we take for granted everyday due to bad weather. My thoughts are with you.

Ashley, I live minutes from the beach but I live on top of a big hill (gotta love CT' terrain) so we didn't get flooded. We got smacked pretty hard but thank the powers that be, we had no trees down or anything but my neighbors and friends and family all have trees down, no power, flooded roads.

AppalachianRN-Thank you for your thoughts.

StudentNurseCT-hate to be the bearer of bad news but all reports I'm hearing are if you don't have power now, you very well could be without it for up to a week. :(

I'm so grateful for my standby generator. After 11 days w/ no power when Gustov hit us, I got the generator installed. Now, when the power goes out, the generator kicks in.
