Has anyone taken A&P II online at Ivy Tech, I am taking A&P I right now and want to take 2 in the fall but may be moving in the fall so online would work better for me. Just wanted to know how hard it is and if online is doable?? Thanks:D:coollook::bowingpur

I have taken many online classes BUT in my personal opinion, you would be doing yourself an injustice taking it online. A&P is a big part of nursing, I think missing the hands on experience, the models, slides, interaction, lab environment, etc that the classroom brings in this instance will make things harder for you in the long run.

I actually took A&P II online but of course you have to take labs at school which gives the

"hands on". Lecture online was great, straight and to the point.

I should correct myself then, if lab is on campus, having lecture online would be a'ok!

Thanks the class has the lecture on line and labs on campus so I think I will go that way!

I totally agree with Sarrah!

I think that an online A&P class would be okay if you attend the labs in a classroom setting. However, I know for the program I am applying for they want your classes to come from a strong science school or at least an in-class setting (for science/math courses). You would also probably get more out of the class if you take it in person. However, if online is what you have to/need to do you should do it.

I have taken those classes online (through ccconline) and got all A's. Even got over 100% in Chem because of extra credit. If you are organized, can find information yourself and don't fall behind, you can be successful with online classes.

Thanks again everyone think I will go with the online way with labs on campus. I took statistical math online and got a B+ so think I should be OK. I really like the online format better with working 40+ hours a week it just fits my schedule more. Thanks again!! :D

Though I personally haven't enjoyed any of my online classes as much as my actual classroom settings, I do understand you have to do what you have to do. I chose to post to this discussion because my A&P I teacher did NOT teach! It was so disappointing, but true. Equally, his tests were so hard and extremely cumulative. Therefore, I read that book COVER TO COVER, for all the chapters we covered, roughly 16, between 1-22 (skipped a few).

This was our book: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0321505719/ref=pd_lpo_k2_dp_sr_1?pf_rd_p=486539851&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe-1&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=0805372806&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=1YPS1HVMKM2WJ6Q9YSRA

That was actually amazing. Though, with tricky topics like ATP: Sodium & Potassium, Diffusion, etc, I read those 500 times over and over again. The only benefit to all of this was it made me want to one day teach A&P if I ever get bored with what I'm doing, because I love the subject and wasn't really bias to anything from a teacher because I truly was not taught!

I recommend you "do what you have to do" if you can read read read, and (no joke) buy 20 highlighters, and use them! Read each chapter 3 times, and then reread the hard concepts 2 more times each.

Good luck, and do not be scarred! You can do ANYTHING you put your mind to! Just pep talk yourself: "I'm going to pass this class!" :yeah:
