I know it is entirely too early but I wanted to get a thread going for all of you who are planning to apply for the NSP this upcoming year. I know it is becoming more and more popular and there are always questions and people wanting to share experiences and such so I hope this thread will become helpful! I have signed up to get the alert for when the application is available for the 2013-2014 FY and hope to meet others who will be applying as well.

Wow! Congratulations! What a happy way to walk out of class! It's nice to hear that someone has received the participant email after August 31. Were you asked for your bank account information in the portal along with your W4 and Proof of Enrollment?

Maybe there IS still hope for the rest of the folks in final review!

Thanks a lot! Yes it is definitely stressful! @ AnnaWK yes I did all that in July so I was in the final review. The confirmation email acknowledge you as a participant and give you access to the portal for participants which basically has a lot of info regarding what you need to do next so your school can send them the tuition invoice and most of the things are what we already read about such as what they pay for and what they do not pay for. I think there is definitely still hope!

I just received my email allowing me to log in as a participant! I had been "in final review" since July. There is still hope!

I just got mine as well. They are DEFINITELY not done giving out awards. Thanks to all for your positive attitudes and encouragement! Maybe it is alphabetical...my last name begins with W. Anyway, SO GRATEFUL and relieved.

Congratulation to all who have been granted the award thus far. For those who are still waiting be patient have faith and know that God got it all under control. Everything will be worked out in your favor. I too is very anxious but I know he is in control I just have to trust him.

I just called and they said if it says "under review" then you were not selected and did not get the scholarship. She also said that we will not know why we weren't selected. Bummer.

I'm not selected then. I wish they would just say so, one way or the other. :(

I just called today and the lady told me that they are behind this year and that if you are still under review to take a breather. She said they have until Sept. 30th to notify us. She also said that they are either rejecting or awarding as they go, so if you havent got a rejection letter don't lose hope. I asked her how fair that was, because it seems to me they might run out of awards before some applications are even seen. She said when they close the application process, all applications are surveyed. And then as they review each application, after the surveys, they either reject or award. She also said to make sure you are checking your spam box and that the email will come from [email protected].

So until I get a rejection email I am not going to lose hope. Not to sound cocky but I have an EFC of 0 and a 4.0 GPA. So I would be really disappointed if I didn't receive the scholarship over people with higher EFC scores. This scholarship would makes dreams possible so dont lose hope!
