2013-2014 HRSA Nursing Scholarship Program

I know it is entirely too early but I wanted to get a thread going for all of you who are planning to apply for the NSP this upcoming year. I know it is becoming more and more popular and there are always questions and people wanting to share experiences and such so I hope this thread will become helpful! I have signed up to get the alert for when the application is available for the 2013-2014 FY and hope to meet others who will be applying as well.

Me too, it's a no go for me. I am somewhat relieved though, I am glad I am not committed for two years after graduation.

Thank you for submitting your application to the 2013 NURSE Corps Scholarship Program. Your interest in providing nursing care to underserved communities is sincerely appreciated. We regret to inform you that you were not selected to receive a NURSE Corps scholarship award.

The NURSE Corps Scholarship Program has been, and continues to be, extremely competitive. For the 2013 application cycle, we received 2,547 applications and were only able to fund approximately 239. We encourage you to re-apply to the NURSE Corps Scholarship Program in 2014.

Did those who received it get the email today talking about the budget not being approved and that the workers may not be available to help us soon? I had to explain to my mom that the scholarship is still there but the people who are hired to run the program haven't had their pay approved. I feel bad for them, but I am sure the government will have it all sorted out soon.

I received that email yesterday or the day before but I thought they received an agreement to prevent a government shutdown.

What does EFC stand for? Just got accepted into the January 2014 program and I am hoping to obtain this scholarship. Thank You

Estimated Family Contribution..... Amount a family is expected to contribute to a student's education, based on family earnings, net assets, savings, size of family and number of students in college.
