Well, I got up this mornning to run some errands before it got too hot outside. My a/c in my jeep isn't the best, so I thought I'd do it early. So I finish my errands and decide to stop at the dollar store to pick up some snacks for my boys while they're home for the summer.

I slow down and put on my blinker to prepare to turn left into the driveway. The entrance is smaller, with just 1 lane to enter, then next to it, 1 lane to exit. There was a car on the right shoulder across the street from the store and a truck parked where tou exit. Then there was a car sitting next to the truck, where I needed to go in.

Then i see 2 African American young males, probably 17 - 21, or so, fighting with each other. I slow down and look and one of them lets go of the other one and tries to jump on my car hood. Their aunt had been in a wreck right there and the car parked on the shoulder to the right was hers. So I stop and roll down my window and give them a few choice words. One of them dropped his cell phone when they started fighting, and he was worried that I would run over it. Then the two commenced fighting, and I started a inch up.

Well, me almost running over the phone was the least of his worries! When he bent down to get the phone, the other one pulled out a small handgun and shot him. Of course, he landed on the hood of my car before hitting the pavement. So, then I'm thinking, scene not secured, no cops or EMS, I aint getting out. Don't know how many more shots he has left, and I aint going that way!! So I call 911 on my cell phone and when the injured party heard me telling them there had been a shooting there, he picked himself up and hauled a__ into the woods! Couldn't have been hurt too badly.

So after I finish with the police, My next stop is the car wash. That was not what I expected when I got up. I'm just glad my sons were still at home and not in the car with me!

Surely Tuesday will be better!!!!

Uh. I was waiting for you to say that someone hit your car or something. A shoot-out at the dollar store was...unexpected.

Uh. Holy crap!!!! I'm just glad you are okay! :flowersfo

I hope Tuesday is completely boring.

Wow, Iam sure glad that you did not get hurt. It really is a shame though how some people take life so lightly, they just go around shooting people. It really is scary to me. Hopefully that will never happen to you again.

I know!!! And my ex dh is a police officer and he was going to teach me to shoot, but we never got around to it. And the punk worried about me almost running over the cell phone, that was the least of his worries! And it made me want to ask, "How much crack did you have to smoke before you left the house this am?

So, I'm sure I will end up in court or something about it later, but oh, well. Still couldn't believe it happened!! I am an ER?Trauma nurse, but NO way was I getting out right there to offer a band aid(like that would help)!!

Usually when the moon is full, my dh's ex wife, an active addict, starts going nuts, so maybe she'll lay off this week since I had other excitement!
