What's in your pockets?

My co-workers laugh at me in a good natured way, because I look like a tool belt. My pockets are bulging with 'stuff'. Guess who they come to though, when they need something and they see me down the hall? :D

In my right pocket (yes, I'm anal, lol) is my pocket protector. It has two pockets. One has some change for the vending machine, and the others have my pens. One multi-colored pen and one blue pen that I can hand over to families if they need to sign something. Alcohol swabs, a sterile 2x2, op-site, 2 claves, and some sterile caps. My handy 3:1 tool and my scissors.

Left pocket contains lipstick (must look beautiful while under stress:p) monies for lunch (if I get one) and my key to my locker.

I work in home health, so carry a bag and don't need a lot in my pockets.

Rt pocket of scrubs: 2 pens, alcohol wipes and scissors

Left pocket: my cell phone and large paper clips (we're still paper, not electronic)

If I have cargo pants on like I usually do then its:

Right upper pocket: Unit Cell phone, at least 1 pen, unit keys

Right lower pocket: More pens (I usually have between 2 and 4 with me all the time)

Left upper pocket: meds while I walk back from the pyxis, otherwise usually empty

Left lower pocket: gloves (so many gloves!) and usually a couple pieces of scrap paper

Then on my lanyard along with my badge I have a small flashlight, chapstick, and the CPR mask work gave me.

"Not fair! not fair!" he hissed. "It isn't fair, my precious, is it, to ask us what it's got in it's nassity little pocketsess?"

I used to have one of those "tool belts" but our hospital doesn't allow us to pack flushes ahead of time so I just usually have some caps to save IV tubing, claves, alcohol wipes, shears, kelly clamps and a 4 color pen. Used to carry a lot more but don't nowadays.

Stethoscope, index cards-constant lists to be made, alcohol preps, flushes, pens-at least 2 colors, cash-usually folded in an index card, gloves, tele sensors, 4x4's, tape-usually paper, pt. daily report sheets, phone, my smart phone, trauma shears, penlight...and various other things depending on my assignment. ..I need more pockets!

Trauma sheers and a pen.

Everything else I could need is readily available in the ED.

I work in psych so my pockets aren't nearly as full as they used to be when I worked in geriatric LTC.

While I do bring a bag to work that's fully loaded with supplies, the only items I start the shift with in my pocket are my "brain sheet" and a pen.

At the end of the day when I get home, I've been known to have in my pockets: alcohol swabs, clean gloves and the tips of the finger stick thingies- the part that plugs the hole where the needle comes out.

This is off topic, I know, but I can't help but read your thread title like Gollum "What has it got in its pocketses?"

Anyway, I usually just have my phone, pens that don't write so well, and paper tape...and this old ring.:sarcastic:

Contributing to the 4 year old thread for kicks too...

My cellphone in my left pocket (yes it must be in left), my right pocket has highlighter, dry erase marker, and two pens in case I lose one. Sometimes I'll bring my small pocket size notepad in case I run into something new and I can quickly right it down. It'll go in my left pocket as well.
