No - there is nothing I want to get rid off.

I am a very lucky person - I have a job I truly love, coworkers that are amazing and work in a supportive environment. I think it might not get better than this....

Getting interrogated by patient families. It would be nice if there was someone to run interference so I could just focus on the patient.

I am a palliative care nurse that works within an inpatient palliative care team.

The reason I am so satisfied is that the hospital is so dedicated to providing best care to patients that they actually support a palliative care team without the constraints that nurses usually have to work with. True enough, there is a list of patients I have to see but I have time! If I have to meet with patients and/or families for an hour because of their needs, I can do so. I feel respected by all colleagues (nurses and non nurses), by staff within the organization or outside. My immediate colleagues are great and we support each other - not that we always agree on everything but we are a great team and supportive.

I was also very satisfied working hospice and palliative care in the community but this position enable me to use my knowledge and abilities to a fuller extend and in a different way.

Admittedly, palliative care is not for everybody. There is a lot of science and research about how we do and approach things and every day is unique. I would not be able to do my work that well without my colleagues and the support that the hospital provides....
