  1. I have been a nurse for 10 years, always in LTC, I feel like it what I was meant to do. I have been at current facility for 7 years. I thought I found the golden ticket when I found this job. Staffing is wonderful, beautiful facility, our voices were heard, wonderful pay and benefits. I thought I hit it big time! Fast forward to six years later under new management… And it sucks! Our voices are no longer heard, the nurse aides do whatever the hell they want with no repercussions. They will get up in their nurses face and tell them how it’s going to be, the nurse writes them up, and nothing ever becomes if it. Director of nursing is a spineless jellyfish, ADON is a backstabbing witch. I try to make the nurse aids do their jobs and they don’t do it because they know nothing is going to happen to them anyways. I have developed two autoimmune disorders and an ulcer, and it’s all related to stress. I know it’s time to go but I’m 56 years old and don’t know which way to go if I left. I just want my residents taken care of appropriately with compassion and dignity. If that too much to ask? My heart hurts because I have to leave this job, where I once thought I had found my forever home.

  3. Absolutely! Love my job, love my residents. Then payday rolls around and I'm like "Are you kidding me?? I made this much money for doing what I love??" Yup, so thankful to be where I'm at and what I'm doing! ❤️
  4. We have a nurse like that. It is an ongoing joke between me and my coworkers that this nurse will want to know in report how many hairs are On the left butt cheek and what is the scrotal circumference! I once gave her report and told her the gentleman had fallen at home and was a left hip repair. She asked Me how long he laid at home before he was found? To which I replied I don't know I wasn't there lol
  5. We were always told that a small percentage had to be on off peak hours, so expect them at anytime. Been thru about a dozen state surveys and have never seen them other than mon-fri 9-5.
  6. Diploma RN here, no intentions of going further. I'm 52 yo and work at a wonderful facility with amazing pay/benefits. I will be here until I die, and they don't care if I'm a BSN or not so the buck stops here.
  7. I used old ones. Everything was the same, but maybe on a diff page. I had no problems
  8. I'll be working as an aide tonite. We have too many nurses on the schedule tonite but not enough aides. I will volunteer to do it. I love to work as an aide...at RN salary! :)
  9. Utility work, checking frig temps, filing, stocking carts...
  10. Holy cow! My family would never see me again if my facility offered those kinds of bonuses!
  11. Diploma RN. Central Ohio. LTAC. 8 yrs experience. $27 base pay + 15% shift diff for nights+20% weekend diff+ $1.50 charge nurse pay. State benefits/retirement.
  12. Yes it happens at my facility, it's called ABC (absent by consent). As night shifters we discuss it the night before and decide who is going to take the day off. But we still have to call in at 10pm and make sure no one called in. If there is a call off we have to go in then.
  13. I have been a diehard asics girl for several years. They felt good at first then weren't working for me any more. I have Fred flintstone feet! Lol my daughter suggested I try Hoka running shoes. I got a pair last week and I am in love! I have plantar fasciitis and the first dozen steps when I get out of bed used to be excruciating! No more! I can dance when I get out of bed! I was getting cortisone shots in my feet on a regular basis, I don't think I'll be needing them anymore. The shoes as ugly as hell but I don't care they feel wonderful! Try Men's and Women's running shoes and apparel, running shoe reviews: Nike, Brooks, adidas, Mizuno, Asics, Saucony & New Balance for some good prices. They have some for $39.99 which is an amazing price for these. Use google for a 10% off code too! You won't be disappointed
