web courses

  1. What was your experience like taking a web course? How long did it take for the proffessor to email you with instructions to start the class?

I've taken a few web courses and all but one were pretty good. The instructors were in constant contact and beginning on the first day of the semester, I had the syllabus for the course.

I really enjoy web courses because it allows me more time at home with the kids.

    Good luck.

I've taken a few courses on the internet. The course syllabus was provided usually the week before the class.

Never taken any. Did it the old fashioned way with eye-to-eye contact. But I think it would probably be great.

Just took an ER Nursing course through a local college and hospital. I enjoyed it. Very doable with kids and working part-time. Just a couple of glitches when taking a quiz but not a big deal. I highly recommend these kinds of courses for busy people.

I'm taking two this summer. one is fine, but the other is awful. The instructor is not too computer savy and has no business teaching an online class! The thing I like best is that you can do it on your own time as long as you meet the deadlines.

I would recommend it, but only if the instructor has taught an on-line course before. Brett's post sums up why. I took A&P II online, and it was fine. I had to go into the school to take my exams. One plus was that my grades were posted online, not in the hallway of the science building, so I had more time to look over my grades and my average without 100 other students craning their necks to find their grades.

I have done computer course through University of Phoenix online and Southern Illinois University and love them. Would never think of going back to regular school.

That's another thing I like about taking online classes. Generally...all of your tests and quizzes are graded as soon as your done.

I'm taking two online courses in the Fall, and course instructions will be available two weeks before class. Look for an instructor whom has been teaching in this manner for a few semesters before enrolling. Also, be sure you are comfortable on a computer; otherwise, you'll really be learning two subjects instead of one.
