Using Your Photo As An Avatar - Page 6
Register Today!- Feb 21 by MessyMommaQuote from FlyingScotThis sounds like a freaking amazing idea! Muwahaha (supposed to be an evil laugh)!Personally I'm thinking of using a picture of one of my co-workers as my avatar. Then I can say all the crap I want and not have to worry.

.....got myself in deep on this one! Guess this is why you should never reveal your true self.
PS: I'm not a Danica fan in real life - it just happened to be most relevant at the time. (Go Kasey Kahne)
Sorry to Ruby for hijacking her thread...as an apology...

Jimmie Johnson and Kasey Kahne shirtless.
Now, on to the REAL issue at hand. I agree with not using yourself as an avatar - not just because of the issue of workplace stuff, but because, well, who knows what freaks are doing with your picture. I mean it. Your face could be added to another person's body. Your face could be used to catfish someone. That kind of thing.
As for using celebrities, the only reason I do it is because it is part of my online persona. But other than that, I don't see why that's a bad thing at all.
Although I did find it hilarious when Talaxandra's Ali avatar was thought to be Ted Bundy.

At that time I had a facebook profile picture of a hedgehog an panicked that my anonymity was lost. I still HAVE NO IDEA how anyone could see that pic on this website, but I think it has something to do with visiting this site via my ipad. I am not careful to log totally out of Facebook when surfing with my ipad for that reason. Has anyone else had this happen? I use this site to vent.

Try, oh, a stegosaurus or some nice false-color images of the Andromeda galaxy. Mix 'em up. - Feb 21 by BrandonLPNQuote from beekerThe website for a local news channel posted a story abbot my place of employment. I posted some opinionated thoughts in the "comments" section anonymously. Or I assumed it was anonymous. I was using my iPad and I just stay logged into my Facebook account. Apparently, when you post comments on some web pages, it just uses your facebook ID without even asking you. I guess the comments section on some sites is "powered" by Facebook or something. Reason # 543 I hate Facebook.....Funny you mention this! I actually have not chosen an avatar yet someone here commented how cute my avatar picture of a hedgehog was. - Feb 24 by beekerQuote from BrandonLPNI think this is what happened to me. My husband thinks he fixed it, it was something to do with the ipad keeping me auto logged into facebook. He said he changed the settings but I am still afraid to use my iPad.The website for a local news channel posted a story abbot my place of employment. - Feb 24 by beekerQuote from GrnTeaNo, the person made an innocent comment. I did a complete search they are not from my state or have anything to do with me. I think my ipad had me autologged in via facebook. It sounds as if someone has identified you, is what it sounds like to me.

My point is, some people are probably unaware we can see their face here. - Feb 24 by IndyFor facebook I do have my picture. When I made the account I wanted to connect with some old friends who would not have recognized my married name, and I didn't want to put a super long name on there, so I used a picture anyone would recognize of me, and haven't changed it because it's a good hair day pic and there are so few of those. And I have to act like work doesn't exist when I comment or post. It's ok because my husband is my main outlet for venting, and that's over ten minutes after I get home.
If any of my coworkers have AN accounts, they don't talk about it. That's fine by me :-)Hygiene Queen likes this. - Feb 24 by blacksunflowerI have identified a nursing instructor and a classmate from this site so far. It really is pretty easy to identify people even when they don't use their real pictures for the avatar. Be careful.sharpeimom and GrnTea like this.
