Hello, I'm an italian doctor of nursing sciences. I have seen on various websites that there are many certifications required to work in USA.

Could anybody explain me what are the following certifications for?

ACLS:ENPC: BLS: shim.gif FHM: CCRN: shim.gif NRP: CEN: shim.gif PALS: CHEMO: shim.gif RNC: CNOR: shim.gif TNCC: CNRN:

The only acronyms I know are BLS and ACLS.

NRP

FHM

PALS

CHEMO

Does anybody know the meaning?

ACLS: Advanced cardiac life support

ENPC: emergency nurses paedicatric course

BLS: shim.gifbasic life support

FHM:

CCRN: shim.gif critical care registered nurse ?

NRP:

CEN: shim.gif

PALS: paediatric advanced life support

CHEMO: shim.gif chemotherapy

RNC:

CNOR: shim.gif certified nurse in the operating room

TNCC: trauma nurses core course

CNRN: certified neuroscience registered nurse

these are the few I have been able to work out

RNC = Registered Nurse Certified in Psychiatry

PALS = pediatric advanced life support

FHM = fetal heart monitoring

CEN = Certified Emergency Nurse

Chemo = (as far as I know) not an acronym, but just a "nickname" for chemotherapy

Doctor Guazzo,

You don't need all of these certifications to work in the US. Are you looking to come here to work? Usually the 2 main tests to pass to be able to work here are:

1. TOEFL= test of english as a foreign language. This tests your English language competency.

2. NCLEX= our national licensing exam.

The other certfications you asked about can usually be obtained on the job and are dependent on what area/specialty you are working in.

I believe that the RNC may be Register Nurse Clinician (haven't checked to see if anyone else answered you on this one)
