In your experience, how long does golitely take?

Yes I put a post earler about the quad I work for, no response.... maybe the wrong title! Just need a time. Forget the quad part. Tell me your experience with your patients.

Thanks.

Hi

I don't know an exact amout of time, but I do know that it usually acts pretty quick--at least in my experience.

I know that this probably doesn't help much, but I hope it helps a little!!

Good Luck!!

Specializes in ICU.

The JBI has a best practice guide sheet on constipation which lists the expected onset of most laxatives but go-lightly does not seem to be one of them - anyway here it is.

I wouldn't recommend G0-Lytely for a quad for a laxative. I only have used it as a bowel prep to completely clean a patient out for a colonoscopy and I have seen to many patients sent into the ER for electrolyte imbalances afterwards.

Would recommend just a Fleet's enema or Fleet's Phospho-Soda. Have you tried just using a Dulcolax suppository every other day. I used to have great results with those. Quick and they do the job. Go-Lytely is overkill in my opinion.

Code Brown-------------------- :balloons: :p

I used to work in a place where the local police would bring down people thay suspected of secreting contraband "where the sun don't shine" (which could be a whole new thread!!).

The golytley would usually start working in an hour or so, can you say golytlley till clear!!
