from AN it looks like the job market is much better!

I've been reading the AN forums for over 2 years. It seems like in that time there are LESS people posting about not being able to find a job after graduating/relocating and MORE people posting about juggling two different job offers and looking for advice on which to choose.

Has anyone else noticed this trend?

It's encouraging!

Really? All I read is new grads not finding work and others not finding work either. There is the occasional "I found a job" post but I don't know where you got your information or perhaps I just don't see it.

No new grads being hired here. Also no agency work. Does not look good here with our economy for any career right now.

graduated in May, still no job. I have my first interview tomorrow.

I haven't seen that as much as posts about those trying to swing a few PT jobs, usually one needs to be dumped due to fear of losing license, etc., then attempting to find another to take it's place.

I wish I could say that the job market was good in our area. When my son graduated a few months ago he was unable to get a job anywhere in our area. Even the places where he did his clinical rotations were not hiring. He finally got into a hospital where his Dad has worked for over 20 years as a materials manager. He has to drive over an hour to work but he is really happy where he is. The nursing school that we graduated from lost their accreditation with the board of nursing so that on top of the economy made it next to impossible for him to get a job.

I have never had a problem with getting a job. I had 3 job offers as a new grad, recently had 4 job offers in the past week in a half. I guess it all depends on the area. I'm in MD.

Maybe it is just Miami, Fl, but finding a job as a recently licensed RN is impossible!!! There are people i know that have been licensed since 2009 still looking.... I am currently trying to obtain as many certifications as I can to try and boost my chances of getting the job. Everyone is asking 1-2years experience in acute care! How are we supposed to get experience if no one wants to train us? Do my 2 years of clinical rotations at one of the busiest hospitals in Miami count for nothing? And here's my perspective; a new RN is willing to be molded to your policies and isn't taking any shortcuts as opposed to any RN that has worked elsewhere for a few years. Once again doesn't that flexibility, naive-ness, and ambition make you want to consider a new RN? And what's with the online applications??????? ANYONE CAN FACEBOOK anyone can type doesn't the fact that i'm lugging myself around this hot city in business attire with ambition and drive mean anything to you corporate institutions? I'm quite fed-up with the job search. It is very disconcerting and makes me question where I have been placing all my efforts for the last two years.

That's great that as an RN you are working. Congratulations ... where in MD are you?

The area I work they will not hire you unless you are a BSN RN with 1 year experience MINIMUM. Many postings have 3-5 years experience.

I live in an area where there are 8 nursing colleges in a 100 mile radius, so that's part of it but still.

I luckily work at the hospital I want to work for an they have internal new grad positions occasionally. Which is awesome since we get over 4,000 applications a month.

I'm in an area with a lot of nursing programs too. Even experienced nurses are having trouble finding work.
