Jobs in Florida - NEW RN
Yes ur notAlone many hospitals have "scholars" programs n they get dibs on grad positions. Corporate america is taking over with the need for nurses you'd think they'd bend the rules. There are no laws on NUR pt ratios here I've seen 1 RN with 7 PTs another hospital w the same position open for over 6 months... But I'm not qualified? According to my license I am what's the delay? Unfortunately if you don't know the RN director somewhere or pay even more for a private institution with "scholars" that find u the job, you're just a fish out of water

Jobs in Florida - NEW RN
is it just me or is finding a job as a new rn impossible?? maybe it's just miami, fl but there are absolutely no opportunities for us. how can we gain experience if no one is willing to offer it? anyone can facebook or type! what's with all the online applications?? don't you want to know if i am in good working condition? wouldn't you like to see what kind of person you are hiring on paper in real life? are they cheerful? are they ambitious enough to show up and actually job hunt? a new rn has flexibility and ambition at least myself i can be molded to any facilities policies and procedures and i want to learn everything the right way! an rn from another facility is not on that level they are coming in "knowing" what to do but they do it sloppy and unmotivated they aren't taking individual time for all of their patients!! noone cares about those aspects of the job though, right? do my 2 years of clinical rotations at one of the busiest hospitals in miami, fl mean nothing to a corporation? any advice from my fellow rns? i am currently working on getting all my necessary certifications to try and increase my chances on getting hired (pals, acls, ekg). i don't know what else to do... from AN it looks like the job market is much better!
Maybe it is just Miami, Fl, but finding a job as a recently licensed RN is impossible!!! There are people i know that have been licensed since 2009 still looking.... I am currently trying to obtain as many certifications as I can to try and boost my chances of getting the job. Everyone is asking 1-2years experience in acute care! How are we supposed to get experience if no one wants to train us? Do my 2 years of clinical rotations at one of the busiest hospitals in Miami count for nothing? And here's my perspective; a new RN is willing to be molded to your policies and isn't taking any shortcuts as opposed to any RN that has worked elsewhere for a few years. Once again doesn't that flexibility, naive-ness, and ambition make you want to consider a new RN? And what's with the online applications??????? ANYONE CAN FACEBOOK anyone can type doesn't the fact that i'm lugging myself around this hot city in business attire with ambition and drive mean anything to you corporate institutions? I'm quite fed-up with the job search. It is very disconcerting and makes me question where I have been placing all my efforts for the last two years.

Amy Winehouse -- so sad but not a surprise
I've noticed that stars (musicians) in the lime light have addictions starting early and 27 is the dreaded milestone that many do not live to pass... Jim Morrison, Kurt Cobaine, Jimmy Hendrix, Amy Winehouse.... the list goes on. All we can do is support and stay true to ourselves and our friends. Try to intervene when defenses are down; in the end they all knew the paths they led and chose their fates. I love them all as musicians and they live on through their music, but drugs made them too blind to see their downward spiral. No one is ever satisfied. Even when they have it all they feel as if they have nothing!

So much negativity towards Associate Degree Nurses
What's with the insecurity?? ADN vs. BSN what's the difference BSN has a few more classes in nursing philosophy and history? If you have confidence and you uphold your position as an RN no one else will even know your degree is considered a step down. If your facility has hired you all you can do is live up to it! If you have questions ask... no one wants an incompetent nurse it can cost a life, but I have found myself (with ADN) correcting others and/or giving advice to others in the field. It's not about your level of education, it's about your delivery of care. If your colleagues do not respect you that is something you have to address with them in private and leave at the door at the beginning of the shift. Healthcare is all about team work and communication among caregivers. Don't let them bring you down, be confident!
