I was having one of those days Wednesday, I was in a pt room...slightly confused, IV in AC so pump beeps every few minutes. Yells "help me" abput every half hour....ya'll know, just a regular day...

So anyway, I'm in her room when the room phone rings (she also has a cell) I answer the phone and it's a hospital survey. I hear the voice of our CEO, asking...do your nurses manage your pain properly? press 1 for no 2 for sometimes and 3 for always.

I gave us all 3's then had a great laugh with the rest of the nurses!!!!!

So. . . a recorded message from your hospital's CEO is what's being phoned to the patient's room. Honestly, I never heard of such a thing!

Still. . . I appreciate a "light hearted moment" anytime it presents itself at work. Those "light hearted moments" are what keeps us sane . . . at least it does for me, anyway.

Here's to looking for and appreciatung those light hearted moments. :)

I think that everybody should help out patients by getting that phone for them. If your patient asks who it was that called. You can just say, "Oh it was a telemarketer, I took care of it for you!" :lol2:

Yes, a recorded survey, with the CEO asking the questions. Are your nurses responding in a timely manner? Are they taking care of your pain needs? Is the room clean etc. I gave us great scores!!!

Reminds me of this past week. Our new Director of Critical Care Nursing came to the unit and was asking our RT's what they thought could be changed in the unit. One of our RT's, who is very pro-nurses, spoke up-- "those poor nurses just don't have enough time with their patients. They are always running and never get out of here on time. I really think they could use some additional help."

Her response was a blank stare.

She then asked if there were any cosmetic features of the unit that could be changed. I guess she wasn't looking for staffing suggestions...
