So, after getting fired for the third time in four years today... I have made the decision to leave the nursing field at least for a while.

For those of you who have left... how hard was it to find a job outside of the medical field?

It totally depends on what you want to do outside of the medical field and what the current job market looks like in that area. I'm not sure how to answer that broad question. But I do think that taking some time off is a good thing in your situation.

I did not find a job outside of nursing and the effort was not self-initiated. I was downsized out of a job and didn't find nirvana afterwards. I found work again when I found the next nursing job.

I think maybe before you go looking for yet another job, you need to figure out what your doing wrong that keeps getting you fired. But leaving the nursing field is probably a wise choice in the meantime.

Jobs are hard these days. I think any future employer is going to want to know that you have some insight into what you were doing wrong and some plan for improvement.
