We're in the process of revamping our Kudos! program, so I'm fishing for some great ideas.

Are you satisfied with your current reward and recognition program or not? Why?

How would you change it?

What are your favorite ways to reward a coworker who does a great job?

How would you like to be recognized for a job well-done or going above and beyond?

Now this would be more individual with facilities...but my hubbys company (paramedics) has a big party twice a year, and in this party they do have video of funny scenes including all the staff..so everyone can see themselves doing something silly or a blooper or two. It is really fun and really gets you feeling like you are part of a team. That is so much fun! Their Christmas party one this year was two videos, one of which got the most laughs and it was a view from the driver's seat at cars not yeilding or doing very stupid things in order to get (or in cases not get) out of the ambulances way..and the subsequent verbage from the drivers seat..LOL! It was hillarious!!!!!

Then they do awards...but they have so many that basically everyone gets recognized! That is really cool actually..their are seirous ones, and funny ones..and some of the funny ones are heavy in competition! LOL!

This has really made the difference for them, and they work as a team so much more now than a few years ago! Who would have thought?!?!?

I wished my facility would do this..I think it would boost moral by leaps and bounds, and really not that hard to do!!!!! If I had a power point program or video stuff..I would volunteer! But my luck they wouldn't let me because of confidentiality (the paramedic videos do NOT show patients or anything like that!)...but I am sure my residents would volunteer and love it too!!!!

How about not have a reward program and put the effort/money into doing real things that increase morale such as improved working conditions/improved ratios, etc.?

Great idea--for those of you who need that!

For the rest of us though, any suggestions?

Money is always good. Gift certs for popular local stores.

We had a "star wall", if you really appreciated something that someone did, you could nominate them and write up why. Brass plaque (star shaped) with photo in the cafeteria, with a $50 gift cert.

We had this thing that was based on a baseball game... you would get a little business card, with little slogans like pinch hitter, mvp, home run, for doing extra shifts, staying late, that kind of stuff, & then could trade them in for hospital logo stuff, like sweat shirts & pants, denim shirts,t-shirts, lunch bags, pens....

I would have rather had a cash bonus..... but that's just me. Probably b/c my former unit manager "forgot" that we were doing that incentive program... so we never got our share of those little cards.....
