In fear of losing my license.

Hello everyone, I have a question. I was chatting with this guy, and the conversation turned sexual. When I rejected him, he threatened to send the chat to my manager and to the board of nursing. Could this make me lose my license or my job? There were no revealing images shared on my part or anything. It was just a chat.

Did you say something that would endanger your job/ license in this chat (e.g. a HIPAA violation)? Did you commit slander against your employer?

No. It was just sexting with no pictures. I'm just scared because he is threatening to send them.

I didn't even tell him I was a nurse on the actual chat.

I hope only intimidate, and manipulation on his part.....were you in a therapeutic relationship, as in was he a patient?, or coworker?.....if not......

You could lose your job. You should not be using company anything for personal chat, ever.

Your license? No. Why would you? Why is everybody on here in such fear of losing their license? That has to do with patient care. Unless you are diverting narcotics or killing patients, I would not fear losing my license.

Tell that guy to shove it. Seriously. Tell him to take his butthurt and shove it, and I would convey he will be reported for blackmail. I would have been confident enough in the first place to tell him.

Take the time please to understand what your license is and what it covers, then learn the rules of your workplace.

It is hard to say without knowing all the details. Is this a coworker? If you did nothing wrong his threat to notify the board of nursing is just smoke. But if he fabricates a history between you he could turn this into a harassment charge. Although, it sounds like YOU have a harassment charge against him. His behavior is unacceptable. Is this someone who should be working in healthcare? Someone throwing out threats after being rejected? If you have any further trouble with him I would report him to HR. Good luck.
