$23.55/hr. Shift differential is $1.00 for eves and nights.

Permanent night shift nurses are paid a 3.5% bonus every 6 months.

Retention bonus is 5% paid every 6 months - if on-roll more than 2 1/2 years

Bonuses are calculated from earnings of previous 6 months.

I have to agree with John on this one.

I have been a RN for 16 years.

Salary including night diff. and charge pay: $25.00/hr. in the ER.

My traveling RN husband with 17 yrs. experience is currently earning $37.00/hr working 36/40 in the ICU in a small PA town 2 hours from here.

We have both done the larger cities and larger hospitals for more money but have re-thought our priorities.

Living here in PA, the salary might not be that great in comparison but the perks are:

3 minute commute for me..

All the ER staff is my childrens' "emergency contact person"

These people I work with are our family. We had a catastrophic house fire last year and all 400+ staff here were at our side through it all, helping with rebuilding and our children.

Would not live anywhere else but here in this PA town.!!!

4. $20.14/hr, plus 2.25 even. diff, 4.00 nite diff, 1.00 charge pay. Any over 36hrs is an "incentive shift" that pays $20/hr on top of reg pay, plus time-and-a-half after 40. 12 hr nites with 1-4 incentive shifts/ 2 weeks, I made $56K

We are a fast-growing regional hospital in Northern AZ, expensive to live here (much cooler at 7000 feet than Phoenix is), we have more travellers than staff in our unit, and they are desperate! Movie and dinner tickets when called in. A union scare (scare for the hospital!) fizzled out it seems after a 4% across the board raise that seems to have made the nurses complacent. I really am amazed that anyone continues to be staff anymore, travelling gets more and more appealing every day - I'm going as soon as my contract (from the new grad ICU training) is up in June! :chuckle:roll :chuckle

I agree with those that say, yes we should be paid for our hard work, and feeling that way doesn't make you "in it just for the money." I get so much satisfaction and fulfillment from caring for others, doing what I love, but that doesn't mean I can't look out for myself and my loved ones at the same time and demand to be paid what I'm worth. :mad:

Until recently o worked in Pharmaceutical Quality Assurance auditing of clinical research sites.

I have an BSN and MBA, I made 115K a year, Monday to Friday, traveled a lot, and have recently left this job to go back to nursing.

Now I work at an agency at $42 an hour and work when I want. I like this better cause I don't want to travel. I have had my RN licensure in SE PA since 1981.

$36 an hour on post partum

$41 an hour on my other job, which is med-surg

(please don't hate me, but i live in california, and my house payment is almost $2,000 a month, and it's just an average size tract home with a 50' by 80' lot. my house is now worth almost twice what i paid for it, and right now i couldn't afford to buy it)

one really has to take into account the cost of living in an area.

It sounds sweet and I am certainly happy making around $60K working M-F, no weekends, no holidays, and no call. But hubby (who makes more) and I can't afford a house here, either unless we're willing to buy a run down shack 90 minutes from work. Texas sounds pretty good. :)
