dry cracked heels

We've had shoe threads, hand threads, hair threads, scrub threads, boob threads - now a heel thread?

The skin on my heels is dry and cracked and the more I'm on my feet and walking, the more I hit that stress point and crack the skin. Aveeno baby moisture lotion (petrolatum and colloidal oatmeal) helps some; bandaids help some, but it never really softens and heals all the way. I can't go barefoot any more and I'm a barefoot girl at heart. Winter's going to make it worse.

Any suggestions, shoes, inserts, lotions?

im a nursing student, and i work part time as a nail tech. you wear sandals alot dont you? lol. when my heels start to feel dry i wear tennis shoes for a while till they get better. and try to put like vaseline on your heels and wear a sock to sleep.

I know it sounds oh so unappealing but wear socks to bed. After putting lots of lotion on your heels, that is. You might try Bag Balm or Udder Butter. (Bag Balm has some sulfa in it, so if you're sensitive don't use it) Also, take a look in the foot care aisle at the store, there are creams and ointments galore. Also you can check out diabetic foot care supplies. Good luck.

i'm going blank now, but this very question was addressed the other noc...

think i heard it on tv?

really, not sure but do remember the answer.

wipe heels down with stridex pads then coat with vaseline and cover w/cotton socks.

anecdotally, i've used a&d ung on my feet for yrs, as well as vaseline.

my heels are very soft.

but i always make sure i loofah off any dead skin/cells first.

good luck.

i hate dry heels.

Do they sell the "ped-egg" in your area? Love mine. Then just lotion and wear socks.

I have this problem too but i fond the solution i tell ya!

Use a ped egg and then a file. and then rub your feet with Bag Balm, put socks on and go to bed. my feet are so soft now i get feet rubs from my sweety all the time.

this is going to sound like i am off my rocker, but i swear it is true. my husband starting using vicks vapor rub for toe nail fungus and just rubbed the extra on a callous and his heels and honest to goodness, soft heels, callous and fungus gone. he is diabetic so i did check with the md to make sure it was okay and he saw no reason why not.

Bag Balm, put on thick, and a pair of socks. (at bedtime, of course).

I use antifungus cream at night, and cover with socks. I don't have itchy feet, nothing that screams Athlete's Foot, but this has helped ALOT.

I also use a lava stone, can't remember what it's called, in the shower or after a soak in the tub.

Pedicures once in a while also help, let someone else scrub my feet.

I also hate shoes...

Crack cream from Walmart is great

I use the ped egg then apply "Body Butter-Cocoa Butter" from The Body Shop. Apply this after every shower or foot soak.
