Do you regret becoming a nurse?

Absolutely. I could KICK myself. I left a 50k desk job to pursue the passion. Although I knew it wasn't such an awesome field, I didn't expect to find out that BSN and MSN grads were still unemployed after 1-2 years of looking. That's as pathetic as it gets. Not even the Business majors that I know have had as much trouble as us.

You guys are scaring me. I am going to be quitting my desk job making very good money with benefits etc to become a nurse and go to nursing school. I see job postings everywhere for nurses here in Texas, I would hope that I will be able to find a job when I finish.

Yes, there are definitely times I regret my career decision. Probably more often than not. Don't get me wrong, I am thankful to have a job, but nursing has to be one of the more stressful jobs there is, period. I hget anxiety about work often and even have nightmares. Some of the horrors we see, I don't think anyone should have to. I had a patient die of a PE the other day, just suddenly gasp for air and foam at the mouth, and eyes roll back. It was horrible, and she was a young women. I cannot get her image out of my mind. At least with an office job, I wouldn't have my work haunt me.
