I have a boatload of allergies. Most of them are environmental. We are a frangrance-free household. Now, if we could become dust-free, that would be wonderful! The biggest pain to live with is the number of foods I'm allergic to & doing my best to avoid them...especially the peanuts.

People/patients are priceless. What many of them call allergies is more than a little surprising. Go figure.

One of the patients on my unit somehow knows that she is allergic to cocaine!!

i'm allergic to "debts", and as soon as i get them paid off, i won't be acquiring anymore for fear i'll have an "allergic reaction" again. ha - choo! :sniff: :rotfl:

I guess another example of a little knowledge can be dangerous...it seems a lot of the public out there don't even understand the word "allergy"

I'm allergic to benedryl and other antihystamines.. I get really nasty welts and a lovely rash. It's not the dye in the pill either since I can't take the clear one's either =(

Me too -- but luckily only benedryl (bumpy red rash all over) since ragweed and juniper pollen make my nose crazy in spring and fall!

I am allergic to alcoholic drinks. Causes itchiness all over the body. My face becomes swollen. These usually appear even for just one bottle of beer.

My cousin's husband was allergic to cocaine (had an anaphylactic reaction when they used it for an ENT procedure of some kind). The next Dr. apparently didn't believe it, and used it again. He died.

I had a patient claim an allergy to water !!!!! :uhoh3:

Maybe they should meet my pt with an ice allergy... she even insisted on the allergy band to go with it.... didn't have a problem with cold items....just liked to drink room-temp water.
