"Desperate idea needed"

Ideas aren't desperate - you are desperate for an idea. We understand because we have all (well, most of us) been to nursing school. However, asking others on the Internet to do your homework for you is such a bad idea for so many reasons. Not the least of which is that we've already done our homework and have no desire to do yours.

Then there's the fact that you really don't know if anyone who answers you actually IS a nurse. You sure you want to trust a stranger to give you accurate information?

Lastly, how will you ever make it through nursing school if you're starting off by having others do your work for you? How is that learning?

Do you know how to conduct an efficient database search? If not, I recommend you spend time on your school library website or preferably with the school librarian to show you how to search various databases and how to narrow your searches. What databases are you using to search evidence based research? Have you tried Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality? If not, try searching 'telemetry' on AHRQ

Here is a tip for you - do some research on LEAN. There is a lot of information out there and see if there is anything on that unit that can be improved by applying LEAN principles.

Depending on your degree and what you study you also need to write about stuff around it like project implementation and theory, leadership style and such.

You probably should start asap as this requires a lot of research.

Good luck!

So you were "searching" for ideas on a forum for your homework. Even though you clearly stated you needed help. This isn't Google & we won't help you for nothing.

One to seriously study? Do you mean you have researched the telemetry evidence based practice and have found a variety of sub-topics, but don't know which to consider a priority? If so, suggest you provide the list of sub-topics and ask if any experienced telemetry nurses consider one topic higher priority over the others. Or, ask the telemetry nurses at your hospital which topic they consider a priority.

I don't think asking for an idea here is a bad thing. She's not asking us to do her homework, simply asking others for ideas/topics. The majority of individuals on this site are nurses and must have some insight on these topics.

Have you considered a needs survey of the staff? What would they change about their work that would improve flow? Fewer phone calls? Better placement of supplies? Streamlining protocols? Often the staff can point out areas of improvement that management hasn't even thought about.

Survey Monkey is a great, no-cost tool you can use to gather ideas.

Just an idea... "centralized telemetry monitoring system."

Specializes in PICU.

Just to give you a starting point. Take a look at the hospital and see what the needs are, then pick something that seems interesting to you. So many things are cost savings, but you need to see what needs changed first.
