I don't think asking for an idea here is a bad thing. She's not asking us to do her homework, simply asking others for ideas/topics. The majority of individuals on this site are nurses and must have some insight on these topics.

I think you will see that it's about the way it was asked. We get a LOT of request for homework assistance. It's one thing to ask but most of the people want the answers without doing any work. This seemed to follow in the same vein. It gets old.

Totally not asking anyone to do my homework! Simply asking for EBP ideas to seriously research as this is a year long project to be done. So disappointing that there are such negative people in this world that find it difficult to simply bring forth an intelligent idea in what one may consider to research. Hopefully they aren't in healthcare because it's obvious through this attitude that collaboration is their downfall and is dire in exceptional healthcare.

Coming up with the subject is actually an important part of the assignment. You need to practise doing database searches and how to identify a topic that is feasible to gather research about and write about. You'll often find that once you think of something to write about it'll be too broad, and you'll need to narrow it down.

I think that most people in this thread are actually working in healthcare and are probably doing just fine in their chosen profession :)

@millal, there are always positive and negative responses on a forum, it would be boring if posters all had the same point of view. I hope you don't feel to put off, there were more positive responses than negative to your query.

So disappointing that you used one poorly-worded request for information to judge all of healthcare. Your minimalist original post was a less than stellar example of "asking for EBP ideas." Had you bothered to give all of the details that you subsequently gave, you would not have given every appearance of a nursing student begging others to do their homework.

A professional asking for other professionals to collaborate would never have phrased the request as "Desperate idea needed." That's just not how professionals communicate.
