Carry a stethoscope without hanging it on neck

How do you carry a stethoscope other than around the neck. They don't fit in my pockets. My pockets are full off all the other stuff I use at work.I carried the same stethocope for 22 years (I sent it to Littmann for repairs every 3 years) but I recently lost it.Then I lost my spare stethoscope a month later. They just fell off my neck in the parking lot or a patients bed, never to be seen again. I'm buying a new one and would like velcro it to my uniform or attach it to myself in some way. I can't put it down at work or it will be carried off. Any ideas?

I am aware that they sell clips that will clip it to your pant pockets or waist lining

I saw somebody had sewn a big pocket on the back of their scrubs top specifically for their stethoscope, reach and round and voila there it was.

I also saw scrubs that advertised a "stethoscope loop" but have no idea what it was or meant.

Do your scrub pants have pockets too, or just your scrub tops? I always had scrub pants that had great big "patch" pockets on the sides, as well as having pockets in my scrub tops. I used the scrub top pockets for smaller stuff, and one of the big side pockets for my stethoscope -- I used the other big side pocket for pre-filled NS syringes (always used a few during each shift, and they would fall out if I put them in the scrub top pockets).

One of my fellow nurses did have the belt clip for her stethoscope -- I tried it but found my stethoscope would often snag on objects in the pt's room that I would brush by (it was always such close quarters).

I use the clip. I found my stethoscope starts to feel like 100 lbs around my neck! I also use a small "fanny pack" thing that goes around my waist. It makes my stuff easily accessible and I don't have to reach all the way down into my pockets for stuff. Both of these items are made specifically for nurses and you can get them where you get scrubs. I clip the stethoscope clip to the fanny pack belt, or my pocket.

I keep mine over my shoulder - I hate the "round the neck" feeling - and I also don't like the idea of presenting a ready-made handle for the patient to grab me.

To keep it from sliding off, I've been thinking about sewing a velcro patch to the shoulder and another 'round the 'scope.

Would've done it already if I weren't so stinking lame with a needle and thread.

I take mine off when it gets heavy and place it where I plop for the night for long term charting purposes... We have computerized charting, but it's a pain to log off and log back in b/c it takes >3 minutes each time (multiplied out it becomes ridiculous). We have enough computers for each RN to have their own station on night shift, so sometimes between assessments my stethoscope comes off. Typically, though, it stays around my neck as it really doesn't bother me there.

I've been wondering how well those clips for your sides work, but haven't wanted to pay $$ to get one. Unfortunately none of the inservices I've been to have given them away for free that I've been to yet

I've seen a belt clip around now and then. Looked handy.

Not allowed to wear them around our necks, Dr still do though. belt clip it just fell off or get caught on a bed like a leases. i have big pockets so i stuff it in there when not in use.
