Carry a stethoscope without hanging it on neck

Published

How do you carry a stethoscope other than around the neck. They don't fit in my pockets. My pockets are full off all the other stuff I use at work.I carried the same stethocope for 22 years (I sent it to Littmann for repairs every 3 years) but I recently lost it.Then I lost my spare stethoscope a month later. They just fell off my neck in the parking lot or a patients bed, never to be seen again. I'm buying a new one and would like velcro it to my uniform or attach it to myself in some way. I can't put it down at work or it will be carried off. Any ideas?

I have the clip... don't like it.

'Scope gets caught, sometimes challenging to get it into the clip, and pops out sometimes.

I have specific things I put into each pocket. I am trying to get all my scrub bottoms to have the extra cargo pocket. I can put my ipod and phone in each one. I hate to have to shove my stetascope in it too. But it's a good idea. I mark everything I bring with marker and then tape over that. It's amazing to see it in someone elses hands, and the have the nerve to tell me they bought it. That is until you show them your name on it. Opps. Once I set out a pencil case of markers and pens and scissors ect. For five minutes. I saw an evening supervisor dip his fingers into it, and a couple of markers just happen to stick to his hands on the way out. I said, hey what are you doing? I just set it down and I look around and you are helping yourself? He said, "You don't understand, these were put here especially for me, you can ask the DON. What nerve.

As an ER volunteer, I saw a lot of nurses with stethoscope holsters. I got one, but it kept getting caught on things. I soon realized why I only saw men use it (no hips).

I tried to use a hip clip but the stethescope was so heavy my pants kept on falling down.

i vote for getting a jacket with bigger pockets. i swear i could put a baby in my pocket and i know for sure a water bottle fits nicely.

when I wear a scrub jacket sometimes I would stuff my scope in that pocket because it would fit (I have a Littmann Cardiology III, btw).

There are also clips that you can put on the side of your pants, like these:

I attach a carabina clip to my nursing pouch, then hang the stethoscope from there. I double loop the stethoscope so it doesn't hang too low

This works just fine for me; even when doing chest compressions. Pants h20190530_102940.thumb.jpg.980ecb11689b463f1bf1d21df1cb70f7.jpgave two pockets... one over the other.

I always hated having my stethoscope round my neck, so I carried it in the cargo pocket of my scrub pants. Of course, this required me to ut only scrub pants with a cargo pocket...
