One of the posts for RN to MD contained a website which I visited and came upon this little gem. I would like to weigh the brain of the ignorant bas%!#d who wrote this!

Nurses are dumb period. They probably have lesser GPA and stuff than people going into pure scineces, computers, humanities etc. let alone be in comparision with doctors , dentists and lawyers. And they go about saying crap like they can match anyone....then why dont those smartasses come up with ground breaking research. The reason anesthesia became safer in the last 20 years is not because of some stupid CRNAs but because more MDs entered anesth from 60 onwards. The groundbreaking work has been done MDA. CRNAs are the OR scutmonkeys who now wanna ape their creators. Theyinfact have the guts go about doing proganada that nurses were the first to do anesthesia when medical historians clearly give that credit to dentists and docs. Well I guarentee you their infinitely inferior IQs will not survive against MDA......the docs will emerge successful. The US has a tendency to be reactive instead of proactive. When they become the butt of ridicule of the rest of the world for letting para professionals take over they will do something about it. The ass of a CRNA who said he could be as good as say some pioneers of anesthesia, soem of the guys who have done amazing research in say cardiac an, pain etc. is a fool to the core. He talks crap. The guys at Hopkins, Wash U etc. in the research dept. of anesth are sterling. They are geniuses ( many of them are MD, Phds) and a lowly nurse with 2 years of grad education( and I bet they only know the pharm of anesthesia, these guys dont have an idea of many commmon microorganisms, let alone complex physio and path)says he is as good. Well thats free speech ( sounds like saddam saying he can finish the US). Well the ASA wants to make a slight oversupply of MDA...cos shortage means a firmer footing for CRNAs. All medical professionals must join to rid the medical profession of wannabes.

I'm sure that the person who wrote this is him/herself a genius; it's so obvious from the spelling, grammar, and use of language. Obviously a scholar!

I say, if the CRNAs are "the OR scutmonkeys" (not exactly sure what that is, since I am NOT a genius), then why are the anesthesiologists sitting in the lounge or playing golf while the CRNAs are doing anesthesia? Apparently the MDAs trust the "stupid" CRNAs; otherwise they would not be hiring them!

Well, this guy/girl has convinced me; I'm not gonna be a "stupid" CRNA; I'll just stay a "dumb" nurse.

Oops, wait a minute, dumb means "unable to speak," and as I definitely can speak (as do all the nurses I know), then maybe "dumb" is not the right word to describe a nurse? But surely if a genius used it to describe us, I must be the one mistaken.

Unfortunately, the vast majority of doctors I deal with have a similar condescending attitude toward nurses. These same docs will scream at you for calling them about an important issue and then will use the information on the nurses flowsheet to do their assessments. I fhte author of that piece is going to medical school, it looks like we will have yet another arrogant doc to deal with.

If this person is in healthcare and wrote this stuff, is it any wonder why the public doesn't have a clue about what we do?????

Nurses can study the same material that A-holes like this AMA scutmonkey can. This person is truly deficient intellectualy but can do calculus so they think they'll be a great doc. They won't study as they should and some day some nurse somewhere is going to put them in their place.

I study daily with just that type of person in mind. It motivates me to seek a deeper meaning.

The first doc that undermines my profession in my presence will be sorry indeed.

We teach the world how to treat us...it begins w/us. This sorry article did not bother me except to make me wonder how many out there have the same view? Surely not anyone w/a clue or brain! I have had the misfortune to work with a few of those "genius" doctors with the "GOD" syndrome. You know, the ones who can barely spell their names, let alone anything else. I also have had the GREAT fortune to be there when one of us "lowly, dumb nurses" have saved not only their patients but also their A#@$%!

I think they need to remember that when they down grade those they rely on to such a great extent!

Maybe it's the hormones, maybe it's the heat, maybe it's because my documented IQ is high enough to get me into MENSA and I REALLY resent all the 'low IQ' comments ........I dunno, but what this a$$hole said about nurses really got under my skin.

I would like to hear him say that nurses are stupid TO MY FACE. I would like to see him get through a night of call without his 'stupid' nurses. I would like to see him do his job without his 'stupid' nurses.

I am so glad I don't work with this a$$hole. He should be glad he doesn't work with me, either. He'd be minus a testicle.
