I am just here to rant and rave right now. I don't know if anyone else has experienced this one or not, but here goes. I am currently an LPN that finished RN school and graduated May 12th. Now I have had my troubles, which I understand I created, but...... I have been on probation with the LPN BON for past offences even before I thought about going to nursing school. I worked through that and my LPN license was reenstated last year. Now that I am applying to the BON for RN license they have taken 2 months and still aren't finished with my application. Still awaiting signatures. Meanwhile the last place I worked is begging me to come to work, also a state agency, they call every couple days asking about what I have heard from the BON. They are very very interested, but the job will not be open forever. Meanwhile the bills , oh the bills! I have a family to support. It's just very frustrating, but I know I did these things in the past I sure won't forget about them.

I had been working and going to school at the same time then I decided to quit work with just a few months of school to go . It was getting to hard. Not getting much rest and 0 study time was taking it's toll. I'm just frustrated and at wits end . My classmates have all taken their exams and are working as RNs and I'm just waiting:angryfire. I guess maybe at least i could work some as an LPN at the facility while I wait. This is an idea that the NM just come up with yesterday. Still a state agency takes at least a couple weeks to do paper work. My LPN license is unencumbered and I am getting ready to get an RN license that will be on monitoring with a fresh $1,000 fine and about 14 other stipulations for one year. I really didn't know where to put this. Maybe i shouldn't put it at all. I just wanted to get it out into the air.

I'm sorry to hear that. I used to work with a great CNA that waited about three months for her LPN license because back in her dim and distant past she had been a Minor In Possession of Alcohol. God is forgiving but the state licensure sure isn't. She's now an RN and this stuff is all behind her but I'm sure at the time it was terrible.

i wish you luck in the future.. i hope you get things straightened out with the BON. get a job as a LPN as least you'll be earning some moola.

Thank you both for your concerns. I'm almost there , just taking alittle longer than most.:). Disregard that red icon I put it in the wrong place.

I don't understand. If I read your posts correctly, all the negative stuff was done with and your LPN license is now good to go. So why are they imposing a $1000 fine and stipulations for one year on your new RN license? Did you do something else or are they punishing you again for things that you already paid for with your LPN license? Sounds like double jeopardy to me. Go ahead and go to work with your LPN license so you don't spend more time being upset. This is all depressing to me and it isn't even happening to me. The light at the end of the tunnel is that eventually you will have a free and clear RN license together with a job. Good luck. (And please don't get into any more trouble.)

Seems strange...

Yes, strange but true. No, i haven't done anything else or found anymore trouble, others think it's strange also. Maybe it was the magnitude of the offense that warrants these sanctions, i'm not sure. Thank you caliotter3 ofr your kind words and understanding. I sure am glad for the place that wants me to work they gave me the chance I needed to prove myself and they like me. I worked there two different stints in the past two years and they really want me to come to work. All of this will help me to reflect on the past and remind me to forever keep my nose clean and stay out of trouble.

Yesterday is past , tomorrow is hoped for , but today is the PRESENT. I don't know who come up with that but I like it. It was just good to get it out . It's been a long wait, but it will be O.K in the end.;)

So sorry to hear I am not the only one with frustrations when it comes to the BON. All I can say is continue to own your integrety. The BON will do whatever it wants when it wants and with absolutely no oversight. God help us all.

That is indeed weird.

Perhaps getting the advice of an attorney wouldn't be a bad idea.

I already signed the consent papers. so there's probably no going back on that sig. I am now waiting on two people on the discipline review committee to sign the bottom of the papers. That's it. Just waiting on two signatures. Then I can go back to work. It's like it takes three weeks just to pick up a pen and sign something. An attorney would cost too much $$$ and take too much time in litigation. Easier to just sign the consent and take the punishment than to fight it. Isn't that the system? Or is it just here in WV? Sorry, I'm starting to steam again. I'm just sitting around tapping my finger waiting everyday for the mail. Meanwhile there is a place begging me to come to work. I may have to just check in as a patient there first. LOL

I hate to hear that; and I hate that it seems to get treated right, you almost have to get nasty (not that a lawyer would be nasty, but you know what I mean).

Good luck hun.

Even at this point it wouldn't hurt to bring the papers to an attorney for their review. One appointment won't set you back too much. You don't have to use the attorney's services after that. Just a good idea to see what they have to say.

In the future: you never deal with the board without an attorney. Your has a provision in it where they reimburse you a certain amount toward an attorney even if it is to deal with the board. You should have used your malpractice insurance for this purpose. That's what its there for. Take your policy out and read about your coverages. Good luck.
