Big interview

I have a big interview coming up at a pretty big medical center. I am meeting with the Medical Director, CNO and director of case management. I won't lie, someone I know pushed this through for me. This is a big opportunity.

I have been on interviews before, all being different, but never with the Medical Director.

I am trying to think of what he/she might be asking me.

I get very nervous during interviews (why, I don't know) this one more so, because i have a lot at stake. I know this might finally be my chance to get into case management.

Any advice on what to expect from the medical director would be helpful

Just be as prepared as you can be for the interview. Be prepared to state why you want this job and why you would be the ideal candidate. Don't waste time trying to second-guess what someone's approach might be. Just work on being prepared to give a good account of yourself.

Learn as much as you can about the facility where you will be interviewing. That always makes a positive impression on interviewers; it makes them feel like you care about their job not just any job.

I have been inteviewing people for the last 2 months for a case management position...pay is great, regular hours, no w/e, holidays, on call...kind of a sweet gig. The candidate I remember? is the one who actually did a bit of leg work on what we do. For the others this was just a job.

Oh thank you! I think case management fits both my professional and personal needs and expectations well.

I do plan on doing extensive research first.

The last interview I went on with an insurance company took me by surprise. My skills were no where in my interview. Just about how I would describe myself and generalized interview quesitons copied form the internet.

Those are the interviews I can't stand, but ones that ask me about my skills and knowledge and my ability to work with what I have I can do good at. No, I am not good at coming up with 5 adjectives that describe myself........

When that comes up, I just think what would I admire most in a dog? Then I just am full of great ones, LOL.

Loyal, dependable, caring, territorial (want the best for my patients), etc.... see?:)

Maybe you could substitute "protective" for "territorial" :D Otherwise it is a perfect list!

OP, in all seriousness, just let your enthusiasm show. Show them who you are. Genuine passion for the job outshines any canned interview question/answer session. Good luck!

Thanks! I am not a good interviewee unless I am comfortable. I have stage fright actually. I can handle pressure, I am an ICU nurse, but when I have to impress someone knowingly, I freeze.

I know I love being a nurse and i know I want to be a case manage and even though I have no direct experience, I can learn it.
