Just wanted to share this, I have never been one to read or forward very much e-mail of this type....however,....anyone interested in receiving the original e-mail that is being tracked can pm me...........LR
This poem was written by a terminally ill young girl in a New York Hospital.
It was sent by a medical doctor - Make sure to read what is in the closing
statement AFTER THE POEM.
SLOW DANCE
Have you ever watched kids
On a merry-go-round?
Or listened to the rain
Slapping on the ground?
Ever followed a butterfly's erratic flight?
Or gazed at the sun into the fading night?
You better slow down.
Don't dance so fast.
Time is short.
The music won't last.
Do you run through each day
On the fly?
When you ask How are you?
Do you hear the reply?
When the day is done
Do you lie in your bed
With the next hundred chores
Running through your head?
You'd better slow down
Ever told your child,
We'll do it tomorrow?
And in your haste,
Not see his sorrow?
Ever lost touch,
Let a good friendship die
Cause you never had time
To call and say,"hi"
You'd better slow down.
When you run so fast to get somewhere
You miss half the fun of getting there.
When you worry and hurry through your day,
It is like an unopened gift....
Thrown away.
Life is not a race.
Do take it slower
Hear the music
Before the song is over.
PLEASE FORWARD THIS TO HELP THIS LITTLE GIRL.
ALL FORWARDED E-MAILS ARE TRACKED TO OBTAIN THE TOTAL COUNT.
Dear All:
PLEASE pass this mail on to everybody you know.
It is the request of a special little girl who
will soon leave this world as she has cancer.
Please send this to everyone you know or don't know.
This little girl has 6 months left to live, and as her dying wish,
She wanted to send a letter telling everyone to live
their life to the fullest, since she never will.
She'll never make it to prom, graduate from high
school, or get married and have a family of her own.
By you sending this to as many people as possible,
you can give her and her family a little hope,
because with every name that this is sent to,
The American Cancer Society
will donate 3 cents per name to her treatment and recovery plan.
One guy sent this to 500 people! So I know that we can
send it to at least 5 or 6.
Just think it could be you one day. It's not even
your money, just your time!
PLEASE PASS ON AS A LAST REQUEST

They don't send them.
The American Red Cross has NO WAY of knowing if you send an email and they don't care if you do or don't.
You'd be just wasting your time to send this in an email to anybody - except for the fact that it is a lovely poem.
Pass on lovely poems if you want, but please don't send along emails that say that anybody is going to give anybody anything if you pass along the email. A certain percentage of people are going to actually BELIEVE this and send it on to.
Sorry to be so blunt, but if the email says pass it on to everybody you know - you can be at least 85% sure that it's a hoax.

A Little Girl Dying Again???
Here is the same one again, fleshed out with a little more text and the name of a real doctor to try to make you think it is real. As you might expect, the real Dr. Shields had nothing to do with this message. See the Albert Einstein College of Medicine website (http://www.yu.edu/webmaster/chainletter.html).

Thank you for your effort, this isn't a chain letter, but a choice for
all of us to save a little girl that's dying of a serious and fatal form
of cancer.

A good source to check on probable hoaxes is http://www.snopes.com
Yes, it's good to check if you wonder.
But I still maintain that if anywhere in the email you're instructed to send it to everybody you know, you can be pretty safe to just assume it's a hoax and just send on lovely poems or whatever, without the thing about sending it on.

Nice poem, but it's impossible to track emails as they suggest.
If anyone is interested in the long, boring technical explanation to support that statement, let me know.
I hate these kinds of emails.
Well, there IS a program called "carnivore" that the government already has. Supposedly, there has to be a court order to allow them to use it. There are other programs....
At lockergnome there are programs available that can back-track an email no matter how it's sent and how many ailiases.
But in practice, you're right. It would be impractical to try to trace emails. You'd have to put the tracking program on every ISP everywhere. It's not worth it. And nobody is gonna track your emails in order to give something away.

The minute I get to the part of an email where it says "pass this along".... I delete it just for spite. Don't really care what it's intent was.

We have mastered pessimism. Plagiarism is easier to accept. I so miss optimism!
