Hey any pre-nursing students out there who applied for UF Generic BSN fall 2011... i didn't see a thread out there so i figured i would start my own. If there are any current nursing students any advice and what was your GPA getting into the program. Thanks a lot and good luck to everyone.

Hello there! I applied as well... But don't know what they calculated my GPA at.. Seems each school does it differently... I wonder how many people applied this year?!

I go to Uf and I heard about 600 but I don't know if that includes acclerated. they have 130 something spots...so I've heard

hopeful44, do you know how many pre-nursing students are currently applying to UF? Or are the majority transfers?

I applied as a transfer from USF... Wanda Washington at the CON told me transfers from other Universities have only a small chance of getting in, since UF and Community College students have priority. I was really upset to hear this at first, but I'm still hopeful. If not, I have USF!

Does anyone mind divulging GPA? I was told last year the average for the admitted class was 3.7. I'm chewing my fingers off... We might not hear back until early June!!! :uhoh21:

Hey I'm currently a UF student as well. I applied for fall 2011 and gpa will this semester should be an overall 3.85 and a pre req gpa of 3.89. I don't know why they take so long with their responds.

That's AMAZING! I have a 3.6 overall and a 4.0 in the pre-reqs. It's incredible how the competition to get into great nursing programs has pushed everyone to get great grades... It means we'll all be better nurses for it!

Congrats angeldancer! I'm sure you're a shoe-in!

she said community college students have priority too..... i didn't know that.. learn somthing new everyday... as always best of luck and i hope we all get in. Don't forget to have a back up plan though, because i heard so many diffrent things about who gets in who doesn't. Better to have a plan B and be on the safe side.

bigdreams23 i have no clue how many uf students apply and how many transfers. the only thing i can tell you is i meet a new prenursing student almost everyday. i am guessing it's half uf and half transfer that the best i can tell you sry :(.

Hi everyone! I'm a current UF student who is actually reapplying for admission this year. I applied last year (2010) and was waitlisted, and (when no one dropped their spots) rejected. I had a 3.58 overall and a little higher than that for prereqs. My roommate got in last year with a 3.6 and 3.9ish on prereqs (she had switched after 2 years of pre-med).

According to the nursing advisor, it was a very competitive year last year, with the avg overall GPA being close to a 3.7-3.8. I definitely recommend having a back-up plan. I didn't have one, so it put me back a year and I ended up changing my major to stay at UF as a full-time student. This year, I applied to other nursing schools (UCF & FGCU) and was accepted to both for Fall 2011. Now I'm just waiting until June to hear back from UF! I'd absolutely hate to leave Gainesville, but I have to move on :)

Your roommate sounds like she was in the same boat as me! I used to be premed and my GPA is right in the same place. I have strong doubts about my chances though since UF and CC students have priority.

Good luck! June seems so far away when you're waiting for it...!
