UF Accelerated BSN Fall 2012

U.S.A. Florida

HI:)

I am an undergraduate student at UCF right now and will soon be graduating with my degree in Psychology. I am applying to UF's accelerated BSN program for Fall 2012.

My first year of college was brutal! My first semester I made 4 Cs and 1 D. My second semester I made 2 Cs and 3 Fs. I had to retake the 3 classes I failed over the summer and I made 3 Cs. So... it has completely ruined my GPA. It seems like no matter how many As I make it barely brings it up.

But, thankfully UF only considers your most RECENT 60 credit hours towards your GPA. This is so great because my overall GPA is only a 2.6, but by the time I'm done taking classes my most recent 60 credit hours GPA will be around a 3.7-3.8.

Is anyone else suffering from a year of bad grades like me?

I wish every other school only considered your most recent 60 credit hours. UF seems like my only real hope to be accepted, but at the same time it's UF... not the easiest school to get into.

Poodle5: That's cool. Do you think you're going to accept? Or is UF your first choice?

@gatorgirl76, not sure yet waiting to see how things play out and if my husband can transfer. Do you know when they send out financial aid info for duke, that might make a difference.

@poodle5, I think I remember reading somewhere that we're supposed to receive the financial aid info early in march. So I've been hoping we'll get it this week or next week.

Everything I see online says that there is no Fall 2012 session at UF, that the next session begins next summer. Do you have different information?

The next ABSN session at UF starts in May 2012- pretty soon! Applications were due Feb 1, I believe.

But is there a Fall session beyond that which previous posters refer to?

@mgholmThere is no longer a Fall session. There is one a year and it now begins in the summer. This is a brand new change so all the info might not be updated yet...

As of now, it still sounds like we will be hearing some time in April. I'm hoping it is still early April. I don't know about you all, but, although I applied to a few other programs, UF is my first choice as Gainesville has been my home for 5 years now. It will be a huge relief to find out that I got in. I'm really hoping this is the case.

It looks as if our applications are being reviewed now. Ken just emailed me because one of my references did not mail my letter of recommendation (great!).....so hopefully we will hear sooner rather than later.

That's good! Hopefully we hear from them soon! I'm glad they contact us if anything is missing.

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh....they are alive and reading our apppppppssssss thats gooooood newsss!

I am so anxious about getting the decision! I emailed Ken last week and he said they were getting answers out "as soon as possible" but that was the only time frame he gave me.

I'm surprised not many people have posted their stats on here, I know the applicant pool for UCF was large and very strong. I wasn't accepted there so I'm really worried I won't be accepted to UF either. I'm hoping being a gator grad will carry some weight though.

I have a 3.67 overall gpa, and a 3.89 upper division gpa. On the GRE I got a 162 on the verbal and a 149 on the quantitative.
