UCF- Accelerated BSN Starting Summer 2012

Anyone applying for UCF's accelerated BSN program beginning in Summer 2012?

I've applied to the ABSN program as well. I'm a UCF grad with a BS in Molecular and Microbiology. I also graduated from SSC's EMT-B program. I have an overall GPA of 3.1, Pre-req. GPA of 3.72, and TEAS V score of 88.0 (93.8% score in science!). I'm pretty sure that I have no chance of getting in due mostly to my overall GPA. I have all of those rigorous science courses that I took as an undergrad to thank for that. I'm really bummed; I already feel as though I've failed. My amazing fiance' has been trying her best to keep my chin up though. Good luck everyone.

I wouldn't worry too much Protas-listen to your fiance :)

How many people would you say dropped out of the program from the start? That concerns me a little bit. I definitely knew the program would be rigorous, I guess I just felt that if you made that kind of a commitment that you would see it through until the end.

I'm curious to hear about how many students have dropped out as well. I agree that I thought that most students who apply to the program would stick it out... this post is scaring me a little :)

If there's a super valid reason for someone to drop I understand. But to be honest, it's somewhat frustrating to hear about students dropping or failing and all that jazz. I'm in no way trying to be rude or harp on those who find it difficult (I'm sure it's extremely tough). However, I wish they accepted more students to make up for those who may not make it through.

On a positive note, we're getting closer to an answer :)

I graduated from the accelerated program in August. I agree with hkk - it is a very difficult program but it is well worth it in the end. My class started with 60 and we had about 10 to 15 not make it to graduation due to dropping out/failing out. Most of the reasons that people did not make it is due to either trying to keep a full time job while attending school or they just could not make the grades. Getting a 75% seems like cake but when you're taking 16 credit hours, doing 2 full days of clinicals and having a major test every other week it gets a bit overwhelming. But it is definitely do-able. Good luck to you all!

Sounds like everyone is as anxious and nervous as I am. It sounds like UCF gives out admission status earliest though (I am also applying to UF and USF and they say end of March) I hope I can get into UCF so I don't have to keep holding my breath for the other 2 schools. It is concerning that some people can't handle the load and drop/fail out but look at the bright side: The students that do make it through these programs have almost 100% pass rate on the NCLEX. Just have to put everything else aside for 15 months. Those of you with children, you are amazing to attempt this. It will definitely be tough but there's nothing like family to motivate and support you. I wish they made admission statistics public too but then again I understand why they don't. Good luck everyone, 3-4 weeks to go!

Almost 1 month of waiting done with :)

Nobody like to post their stats?

I don't mind sharing my stats, I just hope they are strong enough!

I'm right there with you... 3.0 Overall, 3.8 Pre-req, and 86% TEAS :uhoh21:

I think this applicant pool is going to be extremely competitive. You all have a far superior TEAS score than I do so I am unsure of my shot at getting in, but here are my stats...

1.) Overall GPA 3.7-3.8

2.) 3.85 Pre Reqs

3.) 83 on TEAS

Major: BS in Social Science Education
