Pre-Nursing school immunization catastrophe!
I agree with EndocrineMD2B...why don't you just get a titer test done. I am also a "mature student" who had no idea where my immunization record was when I was accepted into nursing school. I went to my primary care and for the cost of an office visit got my titer done. As for the Hep B shots I've been through two complete cycles and I still have not "converted". Apparently there is a segment of the population for which the Hep B series doesn't take.

You only need to purchase uniforms the first semester unless you get some horrible stain on them in clinical and need to replace them. Books you buy every semester with first semester being the most expensive.

First semester tuition is about $2800, uniforms about $100, books about $1500, and the nurse's pack was around $150. The first semester is a killer on the bank account for sure.

Most people have laptops and bring them to class but there are some people who print out the lectures/power points and bring them to class and write notes. It is really just a matter of personal preference. There is no special program that the College of Nursing uses or requires.

It is a totally crazy and stressful experience but I wouldn't trade it for anything. Feel free to ask me anything and I'll try to answer it as honestly as I can.

You have no idea! Get as much done as fast as possible-do not procrastinate because it will quickly snowball. Same advice for the first semester. There are a ton of projects that will eat away at any free time you may have.

Also keep in mind that you will be split up into smaller groups of 10 (or less) for your clinicals. Your clinical instructors work closely with classroom instructors so they are pretty aware of what we are learning in class. So if you need to have something clarified from class often your clinical instructor can help.
