SJRSC Spring 2014 applying/hopeful

Hello everyone!

I thought I would start a topic in regards to SJRSC's spring 2014 Nursing Program. :nurse:

Today was the 1st day they started accepting applications for spring 2014. I have worked my fingers to the bone in order to get all the required prereqs done in time to be able to apply today and I am so excited, yet nervous. From what I understand we wont be notified until 2 weeks after the last day of application turn ins, Sept. 30, so we have about 6 weeks to ponder our fate. To hope. To dream. To wait. And wait. And wait. Lol. So I figured there may be some other SJRSC 2014 hopefuls out there besides me and by opening up this topic I hope to chat, daydream, share info, and frankly, just be able to talk about any part of the process with someone who "gets it".....because my hubby does not, and hes probably sick of hearing about it already. Haha. Maybe not, hes a good guy, but still I need some other hopefuls to chat with. :) ;)

I have orientation at SJR-Palatka tomorrow and I'm supposed to meet with a counselor about classes then. Are you guys in classes right now that are pre-reqs for nursing? Can I apply to the nursing program while taking on of the pre-reqs? My plan is to take Human Anatomy 1 in the Spring with a couple of other courses....and then HA 2 in the summer. The nursing application deadline is May 31st for the Fall program...I believe. So now I am wondering if I will be able to go ahead and apply then?? I also want to take chemistry at some point because I want to get my BSN sometime after I start working....and I think that's a pre-req for BSN, but not ADN...am I right?

Idk about Chemistry and what all it requires. It was not a pre-req for the program so I just focused on the classes that were required. I will take Chem eventually, but my goal was to just do what was needed to be able to apply. As far as I know, you cannot apply until all of ur pre-reqs have been completed, so u can't be in the middle of taking a pre-req class and applying for the program. They are going to use all of ur pre-req grades to calculate ur gpa and u will need to have them all finished in order for them to do that. May is the deadline for fall so maybe u can take a class or two more than u had planned in order to get them done in time? I would put Chem off for now and focus on what u need to do in order to apply for the program and then u can work Chem in somewhere. :)

Chemistry is a pre req for the BSN program - you can apply for the nursing program only during the month of May time from and all pre reqs must be completed before you apply. FSCJ says you dont have to have them all completed before starting the program but you must have them completed before you finish, so you have some options.

Without all the pre reqs done they wont even consider your application for the fall, so you may want to think about trying for the spring..I hope orientation goes well!
