PHSC 2015 Nursing Hopefuls

Hey everyone!

I found one topic on this, but it wasn't very active, so I hope this one becomes a little more successful. My name is Jennifer, and I am applying for the January 2015 Nursing Program at PHSC. My home campus is Porter at Wiregrass Ranch. Are there any other 2015 hopefuls? I'd like to get to know you all! I am taking my TEAS next Tuesday and am so nervous. This will be my first time taking the TEAS. Have any of you taken it? How was it?

Any tips? I have finished all me pre-reqs and finished with a 3.6. Not too bad, wish I would have got higher! Hope I get in! Good luck to all you ladies!

When is orientation and is it for everyone (RN, LPN and bridge) at the same time and date?

Not sure if everyone is together, orientation date hasn't been stated yet. I'm assuming it will be in our emailed orientation packet.

These were the prices, books, and supplies that were required for the Fall NUR1021 and lab classes. The total was $527.45. Not sure what is all in the lab kit but it was listed as $111.60

I imagine the RN programs books will be right around the same for Spring. This did not include the uniform.

Anyone have any recommendations for shoes or stethoscopes? The price range for both is amazing.

We've been chatting about these over on the FB page.

I went high end on my Stethoscope for a couple reasons. It is something that you will use forever and I had lost some hearing while working in the Mid East. I chose the one that allowed me to hear the best. I did ask family and friends and everyone agreed to spend the money on a Littman. They say the are the best.

As far as shoes, that's a hard one. For men there are MUCH fewer selections to go with. If you have larger or wider feet then it gets cut down even more. One factor on my decision was to go without laces because they say all types of fluids will hit your feet the first couple of years. The other factor was price. I do not plan on wearing white shoes after I graduate so I looked around for deals. I settled on a pair of new vinyl style unisex clogs that I found on eBay cheap. Simply there are no good looking shoes out there lol

They do look like good shoes, unfortunately they don't have size 13 lol. how well does Velcro hold up anyways? I've never actually wore a slip on either..

Thats a good question about being full time.. isnt it dependent on the credit hours you are taking that determines full or part time? who should we ask i need to stay full time.

I was going to call in the morning and try and get an answer but either way I am going to try and register on the fourth because my extra class will be an online one. So it doesn't interfere with the nursing classes.

I'm taking a break I've been going to school non stop for the past year and a half including summers. I'm just going to do nursing for time being.

I know full time is 12 or more hours and the nursing class and lab is only 10.5
