Orlando Tech (LPN Program)

U.S.A. Florida

Hello! I was wondering if anyone has attended this school for the LPN program. Did you like it? What was the hardest part?? Is it possible to have a normal life while trying to become an LPN??? Im exited about the program but have sooo many questions and would love to have answers from someone that has attended this school??!!...thank you!

Was it hard to find a job as a LPN? I'm currently in the LPN program at O Tech. It's super unorganized. We never know what room we're going to be in and most of the day is spent studying or doing "busy work". Apparently we have to be in class to clock the hours. I'm just looking at it as a way to get into the Valencia RN program and get a job faster.

Yes, I agree the program is very disorganized. It's like that the whole way through til graduation. Nevetheless, it prepares you very well (in my opinion). I finished 2008 and I'm trying to get into the bridge program. It was not hard to find a job at all. The last week of school, recruiters come by, and that's how I got my first 2 jobs.

how long you got left in the LPN program? I was looking forward into getting into Orlando Tech but they have so many Requirements. & it's hard getting everything done when you're working at a hospital. I'm a CNA also but i'm looking forward to working my way to an LPN then RN. Alot of ppl are saying there doing away with the LPNs but i doubt that. Well give me much info as possible. I maybe entering CAMBRIDGE INSTITUTE in Longwood Fl to do my LPN. Its kind of easy to get into & you only have to take one test. IF you girlies could give me some advice than i would be more than happy to.

Hi, I am also trying to go to Orlando Tech for the LPN program. I am in the last semester of my pre reqs at VCC and while on the waiting list want to do the LPN program. Do you remember the contents of the TEAs? Is there any advice you could give me that would help? I'm really nervous. The TEAs at Orlando Tech doesn't have the science portion so does extend the rest of the test? If anyone can answer this it will help me greatly!

Hi Reshmi, I am taking the Teas Exam for the second time tomorrow at Orlando Tech. You will need to score 75% in all areas they dont take the overall score. I scored 85% in reading, and 73% in Math and English sections, so I only retake the Math and English part of the exam. It has been six months since I've taken the exam, but study the punctuation section of the ATI study guide and the grammar. You also need to know how to form a sentence correctly. Time is a huge factor for the Math section, the ATI study guide gives you great examples of this. Orlando Tech is still using version 4 for their Teas exam and I have heard that it is a little easier than version 5. I was a nursing student at Valencia, but I didnt make it past nursing 2. Its been about a year since ive been out of the program, but I decided I'm not going to give up on my dream of becoming a nurse even if I have to take a different route to get there.. Good luck :)

Hi Dream2blpn,

I am taking it today as well. I will be taking the 5:00 exam. Thank you so much for your help! I don't have the ATI study guide (kinda procrastinated) but I have the Kaplan study guide. Yes I know they check each section. How soon after did you get your score? Kaplan doesn't touch on grammer and punctuation too much so I will look online for basic grammer and punctuation skills. Thank you. Do you remember what math questions were on the test?

Hello,

Do they allow uses of calculators for the Math protion of the exam?

No, unfortunately they do not. The math section is pretty easy. What gets you is the time.

Hi everyone, new @this site n also in Orlando, just checked out Cambridge institute and it 20,0000 to attend for lpn,how come there such a huge difference in price from otech?? Do u have to pay anything upfront for otech. Anyone currently attending?

Hi All -

What was the process like when you came in? I know there is the coming in on a Thursday at 8a, meet with the advisor, take the two exams...

What is the process like though during it, do they give you some sort of answer whether or not you will be accepted?

Thanks!

hi guys!! orlando tech's program is serious business- you're either in it to win it, or not. if you are not serious as hell, you will fail. i had 3 kids starting the program, and by the time i graduated, i also had a 2 month old... and pumped in every parking lot in town. :)

3 of my friends (and myself) that graduated from there july '10 just got our acceptance letters for VCC advanced standing.

go for it. take it seriously, and kick ass on all your tests. they have the hardest, most incredible teachers. i am still in touch with them regularly. Smythe and Van will mess you up if you're not ready for them- but they are some of the best teachers i've ever had. in my wholelife, and i am NOT joking.

good luck, all!!

@Peachpower

Congrats on your acceptance letter to VCC advanced standing!! Do u start Fall 2011? That's exciting!! I've been accepted to Orlando Tech and will be starting this upcoming August and I'm pretty excited about it...and will apply to VCC lpn-rn once done. I've read several mixed reviews on Otech...some people are saying that they are extremely unorganized. Did you feel that way?
