  1. HEy, yea thanks for the input. I know that they make less but i want to start ASAP not until next year...plus i feel that at the public schools you get what you pay for know what i mean? For some reason i feel that starting as an MA might prepare me to become a nurse one day. At least create that trust in myself.
  2. Can someone PLEASE help me!!! Okay, so i wanted to start the lpn program at Orlando Tech, but it doesnt start till january and wont finish until another yr or so...i kinda switched my mind to an MA course because its shorter and times are tough. I need a job soon not 2 yrs from now. Plus i have 2 small kids. Has anyone attended TECO in kissimee?? THey have an LPn program here but im not sure on the schedule or the entry dates. I found Lincoln Tech online and they seem to have an MA course that is 9 months long. I have to contact them about the entry dates also. Another school much closer to me could be central florida institute. I have a meeting at this school for the medical assistant course a while back. It would take a 1yr to finish fulll time. This school seems a little unprofessional. I guess its due to its location. It shares a building with a trucking company . Has anyone attended any of these schools? Or cambridge, centura?? please share any info you might have. like tuition schedule etc...THANK YOu!!
  3. Thankx. How much does a new lpn grad make around here in Orlando??? Would you say you like your job?? What is your typical day like? Any info would be awesome!!
  4. Wow really?? I figured hospitals would pay better than anywhere else...would you say that working at a nursing home is less stressful/responsibility then wrking at a hospital???
  5. Thanks for the replys. I will try the Florida forum. What exactly does the LPN do at a nursing home??? Like i sayd before i dnt really know what im getting into but i just know i want this :)
  6. VANESSA, hey im not sure how many times your allowed to retake the teas test. I loved VCC while i was there but for nursing theres a looooooon waiting list i think even 2 years plus u have to take prerequisites (which might take u 2 yrs to complete) anywho...ive seen a lot of posts here saying that u shouldnt wrk full time while going to nursing school just because of the workload...but there have been LOTS of ppl who still do it and manage to finish just fine it might just b a little struggle but do-able :) Let me know if you get in the program!!!
  7. thanks for those replys :) i was hoping for a hospital position just because of the schedule....
  8. Hi guys! So i KNOW they can work in hospitals, clinics, nursing homes etc. I guess my actual question is: Whats the difference between them? Im trying to get into the LPN program at Orlando Tech and would like some information from any LPN's here that work or have worked at different locations. Whats the pay, schedule, stress levels?? Any information would be appreciated. All i know is that i want to becoma an LPN to help others. I have noooo medical background and have nooo idea what im getting myself into when it comes to the actual JOB. Thank you!! Any of you guys work around Orlando???? The only thing i know is that at a hospital you can work 12 hr shifts which seem awesome for me since i have a family of my own idk if i want the typical m-f 8-5 job you know? i think i would rather work really hard for 3 days but then again what do i know
  9. I know what you mean i got my A.S. through VCC also and i can relate to that! but whats wrong with being an LPN??? have you worked as one yet or you wanted to go straight to the RN program???

  11. Hey ARIELLE, the book is called "Study Manual for the Test of Essential Academic Skills, Version V" i just looked up teas study guide on the search bar at barnesandnoble.com and it popped up. Make sure you find out what version of the test your school is making you take before you purchase anything :)
  12. hi ARIELLE, i havent taken my teas test yet but i heard that the best study guide would be the one made by the company that gives the TEAS test. I found their study guide online at barnes and noble. They have it everywhere they sell books for about the same price but at barnes and noble they have a sale right now for $28.00 plus free shipping!! its 2-6 day shipping (not bad) i ordered mine 2 days ago and is supposed to get here tomorrow it came out to 29 dollars and change. The original price is $39 hope this helped :)
  13. Hey you can try valencia community college. Its in the heart of Orlando, and i believe it takes a year to complete your RN once your an LPN but of course the pre-reqs are not included. You would have to take those separately sorry
  14. sorry to hear that. Was there a long waiting list? Well thanks for that info, i cant wait to start but i still havent taken my TEAS entrance exam im waiting for the study guide in the mail. Once i study it front to back i will take the test before it gets too full :)
  15. HEATHER925 HI heather, my library doesnt have any teas books either but i found them at barnes and noble. Try the website first i know that they have the Version V on sale for $28 but its online only. If you need it right away try calling the store to see if they have it in stock but at the store it will be regular price $38.95. Its better to get it online and its free shipping you only pay for tax which it all comes out to be $29 something not bad :) i believe it takes 2-5 days to arrive. Good luck!
