Orlando Tech (LPN Program)
not a lot, just the A&P. have you applied for generic track at valencia? they have an option where you can get your rn/bsn concurrently which we were not eligible for in avs.

Orlando Tech (LPN Program)
@ReshmiChandini- I did LPN first, grad in '10. Then went for prereqs at Valencia. Started AVS in fall semester of '11, grad '12. There were several students in my class that had done A&P at the college level and their credits were accepted, they did not have to do A&P with us, but they still had to sit in class. So it's really up to you. :)

Orlando Tech (LPN Program)
Nurse2b- I still have MOST of the books, with the exception of a few (Calculate with Confidence appears to have disappeared....), I think. When do you start the program? I apologize for not answering sooner, I literally JUST saw this.

Orlando Tech (LPN Program)
questions are no problem. i wish i would've known about allnurses before i started school!! no, i didn't work, i didn't have to, but i could've if i needed to- i studied very hard, but i didn't struggle for my grades. not trying to pat myself on the back, that's the LAST thing i try to do, but i'm pretty bright. i tend to get extremely motivated, kinda one track mind, if i view something as a competition. which i usually do :) :) :) besides, i had 3 little ones at home and one on the way during the program itself. they let us out for summer break, and i utilized my time wisely... by getting pregnant. hahaha!!! i don't recommend that, btw.

Orlando Tech (LPN Program)
yep, we start in the fall!! sooooo thrilled! at times- in the night class, it could be a little disorganized, but never, ever in the day program. my best friend and i had a situation that required us to switch to nights 2 mos before our scheduled graduation. there were definitely some transitions in the night class during that time, but overall, the experience was a good one for us. you will learn more than you ever thought you could fit in your brain, trust me. :) i know of no one that didn't pass the nclex either on our first try, or at 85 questions. THAT is the testament to the capabilities of the instructors. in the meantime, i would advise knocking out any prerequisites for vcc if possible. you want a's in everything... c's get you politely waitlisted. go for it!!!

Orlando Tech (LPN Program)
hi guys!! orlando tech's program is serious business- you're either in it to win it, or not. if you are not serious as hell, you will fail. i had 3 kids starting the program, and by the time i graduated, i also had a 2 month old... and pumped in every parking lot in town. :) 3 of my friends (and myself) that graduated from there july '10 just got our acceptance letters for VCC advanced standing. go for it. take it seriously, and kick ass on all your tests. they have the hardest, most incredible teachers. i am still in touch with them regularly. Smythe and Van will mess you up if you're not ready for them- but they are some of the best teachers i've ever had. in my wholelife, and i am NOT joking. good luck, all!!

Musculoskeletal Help PLEASE AND THANK YOU
OK. So I'm obviously a lucky nursing student... and I'm currently pretty screwed on an assignment. I've never done Ortho or Neuro... only Oncology. I have to do a hx/px for a pt w/a musculoskeletal injury, and I would really appreciate some feedback as far as what questions I would ask my fictional pt, I'm stumped like crazy, having NO experience from which to draw. What do you guys think is important to ask during a hx (aside from the obvious: how did it happen) for a broken bone? Everything? Anything in particular? Oh man. Thanks in advance for your time and advice :)

TPN HELP!!! (please)
You guys were AWESOME... however, since I'm not too familiar with this site yet, I'd like to thank everyone at once, having not figured out how to respond individually. The pharmacist was indeed the best source of information, though she was busy and a bit brisk... she told me that the reason the lipids are separated is due to the fact that if a lipid emusion is present, it will obsure any presence of precipitation. Another interesting fact: it's not the same precipitation as outside!!! It refers (as I'm sure you ALL already know) to crystals being formed in the fluids. Wow. The more I learn, the more I realize I don't know ANYTHING!! Amazing! Thanks again for all your help- and whoever said that about making this a 2 page paper- NO JOKE!! A one sentence answer does not 2 pages make. Oh well- I'll do my best... lots of fluff. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!! You guys are incredible, and I'll be back soon, I'm sure. XOXOX

TPN HELP!!! (please)
So, quickly, a history of what has brought this topic about- I'm in clinicals, and I made the egregious misake of asking my instructor this question: "WHY DO THEY HANG LIPIDS SEPARATELY FROM ELECTROLYTES IN TPN??" I was told to look it up, found no satisfactory answer and had nothing to present in post-conference. Due to that bit of insubordination (???), I now have a 2 page paper due TOMORROW, and have yet to nail a black and white answer. I will truly appreciate any help I can get. I am terrified that I will not have this done.... Please share any and all information that you guys have.
