Broward college May 2012

Hi I would like to apply for the generic May 2012 entry nursing program at Broward college. Any one else looking into applying for this program. Let's help each other out in this process. I know it's a bit early but I'm excited !!!:)

North and central. Central is right by me. But ill be choosing NORTH if given the option. I know someone taking it at south(horrible) I know someone taking it at central(even worse than south) and I have a friend starting this jan. she's like my guide/mentor. I also know someone who just graduated from north and she said it was hard but the teachers are not trying to fail you like in every other campus. I met all these girls while taking microbiology this last semester I also took hcp this semester too so we might have been in the same class I took it Tuesdays @4. Oh I got 6 points no hosa. But I got my AA in nursing so I have 95% off the prereqs for BSN so hopefully that's a plus. I also applied to 7 other schools lol cause in really trying to do BSN but if all fails I'll do RN first then BSN.

I can't private message u back so I'll post it on here. Um overall hesi 86% I used the hesi book for all the sections except the anatomy for that I used the anatomy book from my bsc1085 class. Feel free to ask any questions I'll be glad to answer them. And the best way to know anything for sure is by calling nursing admissions.

So are you going for the generic program or the bsn program? I was thinking about taking it at the North campus because I have heard that it was better , but I'm alot closer to the central campus as well. I haven't taken micro yet, I couldn't get for the winter term, but I'll probably take it when we get a summer break sometime.

Hello!

I noticed that there are some posts missing from after Dec. 15th including the one that I wrote introducing myself to the site. I just wanted to say "Hello" again and possibly get in contact with those applying to the May 2012 RN program. I'm extremely anxious, excited, stressed, and just about everything else in between as we wait for the application deadline to close and acceptance letters to be sent. I wish everyone the best of luck and look forward to meeting fellow prospects! :)

Lol, yes, all my posts about the HESI A2 are gone, and my intro. I still have not dropped off my application, plan on doing it on Monday. What campus are you hoping to attend @Hope2bPicuRN?

Hello SugarBianca,

I am hoping to attend North campus God willing I get accepted. North is closer to me and I have heard wonderful things about the Nursing Process I & II professor there. What about you? If you don't mind me asking, what is your gpa for the pre-reqs? I already had my points granted to me and I am really stressed that it won't be enough. I was granted 11 points in total (10 points = 3.4 gpa and 1 point = Broward resident, No HOSA points). However, I will keep the faith and whatever is meant to be will be. :)

Ok, I'm hoping to get into Central, North is a bit far for me, although I've heard good things about that campus. My pre-req gpa is 3.7 and my hesi score was 93%. I have no HOSA points but I am a Broward resident.

Hello,

I have a question regarding the Hesi exam...On the vocabulary section in the study guide, I noticed that it only gave vocabulary words along with the meaning and not much practice examaples. Were those words on the actual exam?

Thanks.

I didn't get any of the words from the review book on my exam. There were different words and the questions where not all straight foward like they are in the book

If that's the case, then it's so pointless for them to put 3 pages of vocabulary words and it not being benefital for us on the exam.

@ SugarBianca - Congrats on your hard work...That's an awesome gpa & Hesi score!!! I'm sure you will get accepted into the program with no problem.

@ Juliansmom - I would have to agree with SugarBianca... The vocab section in the review book is not much help. I did have a few words from the book on my test, but when I say a few, I mean like 5. I just remember thinking to myself how crazy some of these words were because I had never seen or heard of them before and that I should of read the dictionary before taking the vocab section...lol.

Thanks @Hope2bPicuRN , I hope you're right.

@ Juliansmom - Honestly I didn't find that review book to be much help, I never bought it and only went through one a friend of mine had. I don't want to say don't buy it but you can certainly do well on the HESI without it. Most of the questions ask the meaning of words in a sentence so even if you've never heard the word you can guess the meaning from the context it was used it, and there are some obviously wrong answers you can rule out. Since you're not taking the HESI right now the best advice I can give you is to read alot (novels, newspapers, online articles), get a little notebook and right down any words you don't know and their meanings, I've been doing this for awhile and I can say it has expanded my vocabulary.
