Hello Everyone!

I'm getting this forum started early for those who are applying to the UF College of Nursing's Accelerated Bachelors of Science in Nursing (ABSN) program!

Feel free to get the discussion going... How do you stand among others (GRE, GPA, etc)? Go Gators! :)

Yeah I definitely appreciate the fact that UF College of Nursing looks at the total package (grades, letters of rec., personal statement, etc). Most of the programs look solely at grades/TEAS scores. The app deadline hasn't even passed yet and the anticipation is already getting to me.

Same here I'm beyond nervous. But it set my anxiety at ease a little that UF make an effort to look at overall character and not statistics of each applicant. Have you submit your application package yet?

Yes. I submitted my app about 2-3 weeks ago

Hello everyone! I'm applying to the program as well. It's my first time applying and like most of you i'm very nervous. Looking forward to stressing out the next three months with you all. Good luck to everybody!!

Hey everyone, I dropped off my application today in person and I'm so relieved. I decided to apply the day before thanksgiving and so it was a rush getting everything done so quickly while also preparing for finals. Good luck to everyone and let's try not to stress to much the meantime.

Same here ! I started my application process during thanksgiving break. I sent off my application this past saturday express so it could arrive on time. I have been trying keep myself occupied to not think about the approaching decision in February .I'm just praying that I'm admitted.

Good luck as well ;)

Well, I felt relief after I knew my package went into the mail until I realized they sent it certified mail. Long story short I had to reprint everything and run it in on the day of the deadline because I wasn't sure they would get my package in time or if they would go and sign for it. I talked to Marina the clerk who was putting everything in about it. The only problem is there was one item I couldn't just print. It was my two recommendation letters. So I told her everything has been turned in except those and she said it shouldn't be a problem as long as they have everything else for now. I was depressed seeing a large stack of manila envelopes on her desk. So now I have to call and make sure my letters arrived or else I may not get in solely based on not having everything in. :/And everyone goes on break next week. So, it looks like she is getting everything ready and all together but I don't think they'll look at them until after break.

Lady Bramble Im pretty sure everything will work out with your application. I wonder how many people are applying to this application cycle ?

Lady Bramble I wouldn't worry about it for now, I know they are still processing a lot of mail and your references could very well be there just not opened yet. I would check after winter break when they have sorted through all the mail!

Also, the way I understood it is that they would eventually let us know if we are missing anything from our apps...can anyone confirm?

I wrote the coordinator was admissions Kenneth Foote about it and this is the automated message that was sent back:

Thank you again for your email and your patience during this busy time of year.

I never heard that they would contact you if you were missing anything. Maybe if you're a likely candidate? And I didn't care for that submission form. It has you put your BA and your MA if you have one. What about anything other than an MA? Oh well, we shall see. I hear they receive several hundred applications. But I also heard they accept 70-75 students. Anyone know about that?

Well the statistics for the program differs with every cycle. From past forum it states that its approximately 3OO applicants with only 60-70 being admitted. As for your application I believe that since they already know about your situation that their probably just going wait for your other application to arrive in the mail. However, call first thing January 2 to confirmed that this is the case. I spoke with Kenneth Foote before and it seems like the UF nursing program have a faculty that is helpful and compassionate to its applicants. So I think that everything will workout. i'm planning on calling some time in January to get any information on the stats for this cycle.

Hey everyone! I've just applied too. I feel like I'm not very competitive, and I know that the pool is going to be substantially larger this year than it has been in the past, but I'm hoping for the best!

I'm currently a Health Education and Behavior student at UF, finished all my prereqs and my GPA for those is not very high, about a 3.3, but I have a 3.8 in my last 60 credits. I heard that the committee only wants to see that you've passed the minimum GRE score, so I've got that. I have a little volunteer experience at North Florida Regional Medical Center down the road, as well as some occupational therapy volunteer experience. I'm also going to be starting a full-time internship at Shands next semester. I really want to get into UF so that I can join their psychiatric nursing master's program later on.

I don't know how great my chances are, but I guess we'll find out.
