Hello Everyone!
I'm getting this forum started early for those who are applying to the UF College of Nursing's Accelerated Bachelors of Science in Nursing (ABSN) program!
Feel free to get the discussion going... How do you stand among others (GRE, GPA, etc)? Go Gators! :)
silly question...since the applications are due December 15 how does UF get the grades for classes that we take in the fall semester which obviously would not be on the transcripts we submit before the fall term ends? Been bothering me for a while and can't seem to find an answer anywhere...
Agree with gPtn. They conditionally accept you until the course work is completed, as well as other things that need to be completed (such as immunizations they will tell you about when admitted) until the program begins. Technically, some people can take pre-requisites through next spring term, just prior to the start of the program, thus anyone who is doing this and is admitted must be done so on a conditional basis.
I'm glad that someone started this forum. I am applying this year for the first time to Nursing School. My undergraduate GPA is a 3.1 and my graduate (M.S. in Biotechnology) GPA is a 3.33. I'm currently working full time and I teach an online course for a college in Central Florida. I took the GRE in December 2010, so I'll be taking it again this fall. Any recommendations? The last time that I took the test the scores were on a different scale. I'm also volunteering at a local Ronald McDonald House Family Room. I'm hoping that my references and work experience will help me during the application process. Good luck to everyone! Is anyone else interested in the BSN to DNP program?
I'm interested in the BSN to DNP program but I want to take it one step at a time starting with the BSN.
From my understanding of the old GRE vs new GRE, the thing that changed is that the new GRE is a MST (multi stage test). I recommend using the newer edition study guides to get a refresher on the GRE material
Hi guys!
I've been a long time lurker on this board. I am also planning on applying for the 2015 ABSN program. I'm coming from an unrelated field in International Relations but I'm returning to my first love, which is nursing, and hoping to combine it with my expertise in International Relations. I'm hoping to do public health/midwife nursing in conflict zones. I'd love to hear about why you all are interested in nursing as well. I've got a full load with trying to finish my pre-reqs, take the GRE, and work 40hours a week.
Hi, everyone!
Like most of you, I was a lurker, but figured that I would go ahead and make a post to see if there are any other crazies out there that keep checking for updates for UF's ABSN for 2015 . I graduated from UNF in fall 2013 with my BA in Elementary Education and have been working full-time as a third grade math and science teacher for an urban school since. I am scheduled to take the GRE in November and am very scared to do so as I have no had any time at all to begin studying and am also planning to take the TEAS to apply to a few other schools. My upper-level GPA is a 3.96 and prerequisite GPA should be a 3.9 once I finish this semester (I have not and do not plan on taking epidemiology). I filled out my initial application to UF over a month ago, but they have received not one, but TWO incomplete transcripts from UNF, so I have been on the phone with graduate admissions at least once a week trying to get it sorted out. Although my degree is in education, I have wanted to pursue nursing since before my degree was completed and was planning to apply to the ABSN program. I plan to eventually get my MSN in Family Practice and specialize in dermatology, but am open to see what other specialties I may connect with.
Does anyone have any GRE tips or help? Looking forward to hear more from y'all hopefully soon!

No Problem! Many of the slots for the Gainesville GRE testing site were full so I chose to take it in Maitland :)
