Hi I am new nurse and will be starting my job this Oct...At hopkins in Peds... Question is I am buying scrub, but not sure what shoes, 12 hour days I want to get something that people think really are the best shoes they have used. So any suggestions??? Greatly appreciated...
Yeah Elizabells, my Danskos hurt the top of my foot at the end of the day like around 2 in the evening. I work 12 hr shifts 7-7. Maybe it's because our feet swell at the end of the day, I don't know
mine actually loosen up as the day goes on. I just bought a pair of burgundy with the back on them for causal wear - went out for hours last night, looked cute with jeans, no pain! i have awful big toe joints from ballet and my tootsies were happy.
I work 4-5 12 hour shifts a week, and noticed that nearly everyone else on nights wore Nike Shox. I figured I'd give them a try, and I absolutely love them!! They are kind of pricey $65-100, but you can write them off on your taxes. They are the shoes that are built for runners, so they don't have seams inside the shoe to chafe your feet, and they fit like a glove while being very breathable. They usually have 4 rubber spring "columns" at the heel, and an airshock pad at the forefoot. I can stand on them all night, and my feet feel great. They also come in cool colors!
I also have a pair of Klogz for when I get called to the OR from NICU, and they are comfortable, but not as much as my Shox!!!!
BTW, Finish Line is one of the few outlet stores that sells them, but you can also try the website. http://www.nike.com

are they sold at major department stores? I went to the website and they truly look comfortable to me.

I personally like nursemates, they are very comfortable and have good support. I recommend that you get shoes with good support and comfortable. You will also need to get yourself some support socks or support panty hose. They will help to prevent leg pain, clots, and broken veins. Most of all they will help with circulation.
