How long is your commute to work?

I accepted a position at a hospital almost thirty-minutes away from home. I have a 10-year old son whose school is on the opposite side of town. But I have help getting him to school. My question is, should you work at a hospital for convenience or for a good opportunity, Because there were hospitals closer to me, but this hospital I chose accepted me in the critical care unit. I hope the distance away from home doesn't cause me to not like the hospital.

I am in a similar situation. I took a job that's 50 min to 1 hour away even though I had an offer that was 15 minutes away from my house. I thought it would be a good opportunity. The commute is challenging to say the least. 30 minutes is not unheard of, but it's all in your frame of mind. I listen to books on tape and other calming music when I drive. So then I don't get frustrated in traffic. Good luck.

Gosh, I am spoiled! I am 8 minutes away. I work nights...if I have to go daytime it takes about 12 min.

I drive 30 minutes. I don't think I would work somewhere full time if I had to drive more than 30 minutues, it's my limit.

2 miles to the office. I work in HH so the rest of the day could be 10-150 miles. I get mileage so I don't mind. I work mostly rural and the drive is beautiful. Had you asked me several years ago I would of said "who me?, no way".

I go about 30 miles. I think that is my limit too. I work staring 3 - 11:30 shift so at least I am not driving when its trafficky. There are 2 other hospitals within the system closer to my house. I may look at oppurtunites there in the future.

I drive 40-45 minutes, there is a hospital that would be 5 minutes away, unfortunatly they are not recruiting at the moment. I wouldn't travel any longer than i do now.

35 miles for me. The very small rural hospitals are about 10-12 miles and so very different.

Also there are larger hospitals all around me and anywhere form 32-35 miles. I don't mind the drive, Listen to music, relax and clear my mind before I get there. Then on the drive home, it is my time to unwind before getting home. Plus no traffic at all!!!

Right now I am only a couple of minutes from work. I am considering a position ~ 60 miles one way.....DAYS!!! :lol2: :monkeydance: No traffic really except for farmers, and tractors. I am afraid the drive would get old quick....but to get on days...

I live about 50 minutes from my job. I am a new grad (June 06) and on day shift. I have looked at hospitals that are closer but they are only offering night shift and I dont want to give up my day shift postion so I guess I will take the drive.

About 20 minutes in the morning & has been up to 40-45 minutes in the evening, depending on traffic (I work 7a-7p). There's a hospital about 10 minutes away, but the one I'm at offered better learning opportunities.
