Hello! Just wondering if there is anyone out there that has recently taken the A/P test through excelsior? If so, how hard did you find it to be? I am in a time crunch, I paid for the test when I was a new nurse just starting out, and of course have not found the time to study as I have been learning to be a nurse instead! Now I have to take the test next week or I lose the test fee that I paid. I know I may fail it, but I am at least going to try it, if for no other reason that to see whats on it. Anyway, I bought the study guide through the people that everyone recommends, studyshack or something. There is so much information its overwhelming. Can anyone tell me what kind of things I should be studying? Is it geared towards nursing, or just general a/p questions? Also I took the pretests through excelsior, are they anything at all like the real test? Thanks for any input :o)

If you can get some of the money back for the exam I would personally cancel and take the cancellation fee if you aren't ready rather than losing the entire amount. If you are truly not confident I would look into Straighterline for the A&P, it's all open book and self paced. Now, that being said...it still isn't easy. It's not like you get to spend 20 minutes looking up the answer to a quiz question but it is in the comfort of your own home, self paced and IMHO less stressful. The credits for A&P from Straighterline will transfer to Exclesior so it's worth it. The price is $99 a month and $39 per course, if you take it with a lab you will have to order the lab material from somewhere. If you have been studying you would probably only have to pay the $99 once and the $39 for I and $39 for II. You would pass with no doubt and spend less than the Excelsior exam. Either way, good luck!

I took A&P through Excelsior, it was difficult but doable! I used Vangonotes by audible, and I read Cliff's notes for A&P and A&P for Dummies about a week or two in advance, and also did the practice exams. I thought the practice tests were very helpful, lots of repeats on my exam :-)

I passed with a B and I really crammed the last two weeks before, I took it while also studying for the CPNE so I just wanted it out of the way! You can do it!!! I highly recommend getting the audible notes and just listen to them over and over, that's what helped me pass the most!

I used the A & P the easy way book exclusively. I went through the entire book chapter by chapter and got an A. Keep us posted.

I took it in August. I kept having to reschedule the date through Pearsonview (about 2 or 3 times). I used Studygroup101 & did the pretests through Excelsior & studied them, they were very helpful. I basically went over the tests & study guides in my Studygroup101 A&P CD. I passed with a C! And that is fine with me because I have a strong dislike towards A&P.

I just took it today and passed with a C. It was difficult, but not overly so. The information is really A&P based rather than based toward nursing. I used the practice exams and Anatomy and Physiology Demystified. I think the practice exams are very helpful...I have used them for all of my exams so far, and have been sucessful;)

I used the college Network and the Excelsior Study guide along with general A&P books that my husband had from nursing school. I got a B. It was hard but yet again I think they all are but very doable.

Does anyone have any ideas for purchasing prereq study guides other than The College Network...I need A&P and Microbiology, Intro to Sociology, and Intro to Psych.

This what I used. A/P my A/P book from LPN school, Micro/ Microbiolgy Demystified, Sociology, REA CLEP Psychology, Psych/ REA Psychology. All of these can be found on Amazon or Half.com. I like the REA clep because it has the info you need to past the test. Also go on Degreeforum.net good website to check out.

Hi,

were you able to pass these classes by only using the sources you mentioned?

Thanks, Barbra

Hi, I am also studying to take the A&P exam through excelsior and I want to know if anyone used the practice exams as their only source for studying? I took A&P 8 years ago and do not have the desire to re-read the text, I have been memorizing the material from the practice exams and want to know if anyone thinks the practice exams are similar to actual exams. Thanks

vangonotes is the BEST for this one and Micro! totally scored an A on micro using it and a B on A&P
