  1. I used the college Network and the Excelsior Study guide along with general A&P books that my husband had from nursing school. I got a B. It was hard but yet again I think they all are but very doable.
  2. Kim I am so sorry to hear this. I totally know what you are going through. I took mine in May and failed. I was prepared I took a workshop I did everything. It is hard to pick your self up to go do it again. I am just now trying to get back on that saddle. I was so prepared the first time I don't know what to do different.
  3. I agree it is best to know the critical elements to get the most out of the workshops. The workshop brings it all together.
  4. Make sure you chart all of the critical elements even if you don't think it applies. On skin assessment I had elbows and I didn't chart that there was no moisture. For moisture I was thinking maybe incontinance or something like that. So make sure you leave nothing out.
  5. I had heard Saratoga was a really nice site and the CE's and CA was nice. I know a girl who went there on her second try and she said it was a wonderful experience so totally different from her first place. I have been thinking about going there.
  6. I did the same thing at the wound station there was so much stuff in the way that I moved it all on to another table to get it out of my way and I turned the arm around to.
  7. Hi CindyOhio it looks like we test the same time. Are you there over the weekend. Wait I'm sorry I test there on May13-15. Do you test Mid week?
  8. I am testing in May 13 and when I went to a workshop a girl had taken her test there and they do have peds.
  9. I took the Sociology clep. It was not to bad. I didn't get a great grade but I passed and that is all I cared about.
  10. How was the I/A lit I still need to take this
  11. Don't be embarrassed you do what is best for you. Where I work there are about 6 girls that started the ended up going the traditional way.
  12. Everybody is different and their way of learning is different. I felt Excelsior was the way I had to go because I had to work. You do most of your learning when you start work anyways. I felt like I have learned more going this way because I was actually taking the time to learn and was not just cramming. I didn't take a test until I was ready. I would get overwhelmed if I looked at the big picture so I just plugged away and took 1 course at a time. Now I am going to be taking my cpne in a couple weeks. So I guess it is just a matter of how you learn.
  13. sorry didn't realize I posted so many times.
  14. I just went to an excelsior workshop last week and I don't see why they say it isn't a teaching they showed us all of the skills and how to do them. They went over assessments, vital signs and where to place stethoscope for resp. They showed you how to do all of the skills. They also went over ng's and placement and infants. It was a very good workshop they go over everything you need to pass the cpne including documentation. I hope this helps.
  15. It has been 13 years since I finished LPN school and they drilled care plans into our head. I think that is one of the main clinical things they went over constantly and they had to be perfect.
